This is what is left of my steering dampner bracket. Somebody decided it would be a good idea to cut off one half of the "upside down U bracket" and bend up the other half.
Then they bolted on the "L" shaped bracket to utilize a shock as a steering dampner.
I haven't looked to see if the that little bracket is availiable but I'm guessing its not. So...what should I do? It would be somewhat easy to make the bracket. I do have other buses to compare too. Then it would have to be welded onto the frame...once again doable.
Would do guys you suggest?
This is the "dampner" that was on the bus

Bit of a bummer... but sounds like you can handle it pretty easy.
Buy stock dampener.
Take off L-bracket.
Heat the one side & bend it back.
Fab the other side to make it look like the part you just straightened & weld it on. (or maybe see classifieds for parted out bus)
Grind/paint.
Add stock dampener... voila! _________________ aka: Evan

What he said^^^^. Start soaking that bolt in the "L" bracket now with magic loosening juice. If it was mine that bolt would have already been broken, I'm a bit impatient that way.

Mine was missing also, and I didnt have the use of a welder. I made this bracket after taking a bunch of measurements and tweaking the bracket itself for proper spacing. It is bolted into the back side of the threaded beam mounts, been on my bus for 3 years or more with no problems.
