We are still in shock and I dont think it's hit me fully yet.. They said it came through @ 150mph. I cant believe no one was killed!! It looks like a bomb went through the whole neighborhood. We have gone through most of the homes and have not found any one seriously injured. No power in most of the area..

Now that's why I like hurricanes -- you can see them comin'.

They do? That's news to me, because Norman, Oklahoma, is home of one of the most advanced weather radar research centers in the US. Weather forecasters can determine if a storm cell has the potential to develop into a tornado. The storm cells are tracked via radar as well as air and ground storm chasers. A tornado is very visible.
Here's the infamous F5 that ripped through the State of Oklahoma on May 3, 1999. At over 15 miles away, I could hear it from my front porch.

what he is saying is you know when a hurricane is coming.
"the potential to develop" is not the same as knowing one is on the way and you have 2 days to get your shit ready.
don't get huffy about it.
i'll take a hurricane over a tornado also.

So how come so many people "ride out a hurricane"?
Depending on conditions, we can get up to an hour of advanced warning of a pending tornado. Thanks to the news media, tornadoes seem to be the most misunderstood weather phenomenon. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |
