Just wondering if it is easy/hard, etc? to fit this size with 195/50 and 205/50 or even 205/45 and 215/45 on a mildly lowered beetle. Not slammed - more after handling than looks.

You're gonna have to narrow the beam up front.

Your stock short axles are all you need. You will have to use late 4 bolt drums. Best is to convert to all 68 and later brakes. You will have to machine the outside center of the drum off by 5/8".
