You need to lodge a complaint to the IRS.

I realize that the employer is the one that this falls back on, but this is a tight-knit community, and I know the CPA. thats the only reason I would ask him for it. |
not tight-knit enough to get him to get you what you need, is it?
place the call and get him off his dead ass now, or he will do this again and again to someone else.
get the picture yet?

If I was you, I'd submit a formal complaint with the IRS. If I'm not mistaken, employers are required by federal law to mail W2's by January 31st. _________________ 20‰

No Ed, it's due by the 31st of Jaunary. The complaint can be filed online.
Question to the OP--have you done it yet? |

OK. I get that most think I should file a complaint with the IRS. I contacted the CPA today, and they are willing to release my W-2 to me. GREAT!
that being said, I still may file the complaint against my former boss for not making it available to me per the IRS time requirements.
but...what I don't want is to draw attention to myself. I could easily do without an audit!!
mabye I'll just pick up my W-2 from the CPA and forget about it. I know that doesn't help others in the future, but it looks like that ship is going down anyway...won't be any employees to worry about then.
thanks a lot for the validation, folks! _________________ always seeking a better way

upon further review of this situation, I feel like the best and most fair course of action (for everyone involved) is to file a formal complaint with the IRS. folks that are willing to run a business and hire employees to work for them should be competent enough to hand out W-2s on time, per federal law.
thanks guys. _________________ always seeking a better way
