How much are you selling that front windshield for? (assuming it's crack and chip free)

It has a some small bubbles on the drivers bottom, not cracks or chips.
I have a guy that said he wanted it and is suppose to coem look at it next weekend. I don't know how it would survive a shipping? If your interested, PM me and I'll send you some pics and you can see if you want to mess with it.

I just replaced my kads with dells. Drove it about two blocks then the accelerator pump lever broke. Replaced it, now running smooth. Cool

Re-installed the right rear brake shoes, replaced the right side emergency brake, replaced all the rubber brake lines and bled the brake s. Installed my newly painted rims and new tires. Then cried after I pulled the Bus out of the garage and saw brake fluid pouring out of the front left brake line. Sigh...I'll fix it next weekend. Sad

First thing in the morning we'll be doing the compression test. Then, using Redline's how-to, I'm gonna' try to set up her progressive carb. If that doesn't work, I bought the rebuild kit for it Smile. Peace!

The compression test showed some bad news. Cylinder #

1 = 120

2 = 108

3 = 110

4 = 90

I worked on some other projects and didn't get into the carb today. Peace!

- Gave the Westy it's first wash since the new paint,
- treated windshield w/ RainX, (excellent stuff if you haven't tried it),
- POR-15'd the splash pan, (didn't stain my hands this time),
- cured intermittent flasher relay problem, & replaced 2 burnt marker lamps,
- adjusted IDF hex bar & linkage arms,
- touched up paint & undercoating missed by idiot @ body/paint shop,
- made drain holes under battery trays (left & right) where same idiot covered during welding,
- checked tire pressure, (after reading 9 pages of the tire sticky before realizing most of that thread was an internet pissing match),
- got insurance for the next 6 months,
- ordered just enough stuff for cip1 to get free shipping,
cracked a beer, then another...

Sunday in St Louis it was 78-deg so I washed my new 73 Westy inside and out. I recently purchased it and am rescuing it from garage storage since 1987. Monday it was 30-deg and I pulled the engine and drained @ 7 gallons of nasty old gas only to find about 1/2" of black molasses in it. Hopefully I can get that boiled out. Stripped all the tin and accesories off down to the long block. 124K well maintained original miles on her and all looks good. Ran a cylinder leak down test and had 97% on #1,2,3 and 92% on #4. Woohooo....it all good.

I got tired of seeing mine sit in my carport....so I've been working on it for a couple of weeks now.....so my neighbor walked out his back door just in time to see me running around my carport after The Monstrosity started for the first time in a long time screaming "IT'S ALIVE!!!! IT'S ALIIIIIIVE!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!". So I cleaned up the tin and bent back some pieces on the outside edges of the engine compartment and put an engine seal in. And found another gas leak.....the one old line I didn't change because it wasn't leaking 2 weeks ago......so now I get to climb up in there and run it down to it's beginning (I think it's the one coming out from the gas tank)....and I'm not exactly thin, so this should be fun....anyone got any tips??

On my 71 kombi that i recently picked up from a guy i work with. It was his fathers who passed away about 1998 or so. It had been sitting til we went and looked at it. We put a battery in and sprayed some starting fluid in the carb and it started up Shocked

I did this in the last 3 weekends i had off.
put new windshield in
replaced all window seals
changed gear oil
replaced front pass. seat with good one from the junkyard
installed 4 new yokohama LT tires
replaced rotors,calipers, brake pads and shoes, wheel cylinders and rubber lines
tune up
put sliders in the middle window sections on each side
buffed out the red oxidized paint
installed tow hitch from jeremy
fixed taillights and license plate light
put a better steering wheel on
changed the windshield wiper assy.
sent some door handles off to gabriel to get keyed alike.
replaced the pass side front door inner latch and rod. now it opens from inside or the outside.

and drove it around now that i insured it with hagerty

still need to replace the guage cluster as 2 of the pieces of glass are rattling around and i have one from the junkyard that is in nice condition.
also added a interior camper light to my motorhome bus but thats a split not a bay Wink
all this besides going to the junkyard and stripping 4 bay window busses to sell the extra parts i didnt need to finance this.

I finally got around to replacing my battery. It was an Interstate, put in by the PO. It was peg holed for June 2001. It was a 50 month battery. Do the math. So I took it to the Interstate battery distributor warehouse that supplies most of the Northern VA parts vendors. And these guys are great. The dude behind the counter (and he's a real card) said, "Oh, since you got so much more life than expected outta this battery your new one will cost you more..." Thank God I've got the same sense of humor he had. He said that particular 50 month battery is no longer produced by Interstate, but the equivalent is the 75 month model, and that he happened to have a "warehouse special" return that came back to them due to an improper order. Still totally wrapped with the warranty. That reduced my price $20. So I got a 6 1/4 year Interstate battery for $68.20 total.
