In the last week-and-a-half, I have pulled the motor and transaxle to replace a defective trans from Rancho (good customer service from them BTW), installed an oil cooler with fan and relocated the oil filter. Then I pulled the windshield and upper dash, fixed the rust under the windshield (just one little hole  ), sand blasted the upper dash and repainted it then put it all back together. While it was out, I replaced the broken speedo cable and reset the needle on the speedo (I hope this cable lasts more the 5,000 miles). Unfortunately, I went too far and now I am reading 5 MPH under actual speed. Then I replaced the passenger side door and straigtened the front edge of the door opening. Oh yeah, I added a fuel regulator and tuned up the carbs (after a year of fighting I finally have a good idle). Been a busy couple of weeks but got a lot done. I will be posting pics to my project thread soon.

Cleaned out some of the mess from the donation triage I mentioned in an earlier post (Keep, donate, dispose). It's almost sort of tidy again inside my bay. Still a few things that shouldn't be there, but on the bright side I finally found a way to get the big plastic container, esky and both water jerrycans to fit inside the bench.
edit: I also put my sleeping bag and picnic mat back under the back seat with the aluminium table, hazard triangle and miscellaneous ttols and things that fell down behind the seat.

took it out to a friends place in monroe for a good quality campout in the middle of a field by a river.  went well, no probs, maybe even got a new co pilot for my next trip....the friends awesome well trained dog.

Over the past week or so I went over my 70 bus engine to cure a few ills. I re-torqued the heads, re-sealed the generator stand and the fuel pump, and installed new oil cooler seals (doghouse).
Today, I loaded up a bunch of tools and went to my mother-in-law's cabin to burn slash piles and fix the ailing deck. 90 mile round trip and it ran well with all the extra weight. Used the bus jack to lift the deck up into place. Ran it up and down with my cordless drill. t worked better than I expected.
After I got home I noticed a puddle under the bus. Oil cooler seals are leaking, as the top of the case is wet and I can see oil dripping off of one of the thermostat flap levers on the 1-2 side. Guess I get to pull the engine tomorrow and try again. Whoopee!
Everything was clean, and the seals were new and pliable. What could I have done wrong? I have done this many times in the past without issue.

Maybe the cooler itself ruptured. Happened to me once, I had just started up a fresh rebuild on my old Super... man was I pissed to see oil all over those fresh parts, lol.

Well, I found the issue. Someone (cough) pinched the seals when they installed the oil cooler. I won't name names, but I heard him cursing a little out in my shop today.
The first glimpse.
Then, Captain Obvious showed up.
Once the area was clean and all foreign matter was removed, I re-installed a new pair of seals with just a slight dab of 3H on a couple of spots on the outer edges of the seals, in hopes that it would help keep them in place while I installed the cooler. Those bottom nuts are a bitch to turn with the cylinder tin in place.
Got it done, then had to re-clean the entire engine that I just cleaned a few days ago. There was oil everywhere. Glad I didn't loose it all and blow the engine. That would have been a real bummer.
Engine goes back in tomorrow, then takes me and two buddies to Seattle for the Spring Meet on Saturday.

Today I fixed the cold-start issue I was having since pulling it's cover off after winter hibernation. Sucks, if I put it up in the yard under a cover, the underside gets rust from the humid PNW, but if I keep driving it all winter, the body rust gets worse 
The connection for the cold start valve on the starter got corroded and was loose. I removed the spade connector and squeezed it with a pair of pliers to get it to slide on tight again. I also cleaned off all the other wire terminals. Can't believe there's seven of them going to the starter lol. I hit'em with some penetrating fluid and 120 grit sandpaper, then battery terminal protectant after reinstall, should of thought of that last time...
Haven't actually tried to start it lol, but pretty sure that was the problem. The thermo-time switch has continuity, and the CSV has a nice spray pattern. I removed it while the fuel lines were still attached and powered it up with wires I ran off the extra terminals on the coil (easy 12v source). Pressurized the system by popping off the air filter and sticking a screwdriver in the AFM to open the airflap, tricking the ECU into thinking it was running; Took a little longer not having someone to turn it over while I tested it lol. BTW get a Bentley, all this stuff is spelled out for you in it.

Yesterday I finalized removing my interior, all that's left is the cargo carpet and subfloor. So my brother, my new room mate piled in and I drove it around the yard a few times with the slider open and all the windows down....It was sooooo nice outside last night I couldn't resist. Enjoying it while my resto slows down keeps it fresh

Did one of it's favourite things. Spent some money on it.We had to run some errands today and there happened to be a market on where we went. I picked up about 50' of good thick steel cable with looped ends and shackles, and a big old fuel filter with glass bowl and water separator drain. Couldn't be happier with that.

Well, my good man...
I'm going to properly purple power all the metal of the interior out, re-vaccuum all the carpets. I cleaned it twice before and I'm tired of it being dusty. Then I'm replacing the seals on the driver's side windows. While they're out, my sledge and I will be properly addressing the 'hoss kick' that my whip currently sports. It'll look like shit still, but at least I can get the middle seat and interior panels back in it. Then I'm going to cut out the headliner just above the oh shit handles, as it is bowing down and someone cut out the rear dome in the past. I'll keep the white vinyl-y wrap up the pillars and just above the handles, tucking it into the lip that runs around the out side. Then I'm going to properly remove the insulation and lay down fox-red felt in between all the metal supports. Hoping for a proper industrial look. Trying to keep it simple and clean. THEN, if she'll pull herself, I want to come see what your neck of the woods is all about. But that's a long shot!!
