Added the following:

Bluesea ACR
1000 Watt Inverter/Charger
100 Amp Hour AGM Battery
New Fuse Panel

I spent a day installing my new house battery. I shoot a lot of video from the road and it's nice to have the juice for editing in the evenings. The inverter is also a charger and is wired directly into the external bus plug (sounds dirty). When the bus is plugged into shore power it does a 3 stage charge on the battery bank.

I also ordered these 120 watt solar panels that fold together and come with a nice carrying handle. Charge controller and all the other bells and whistles are attached directly to the panels.

Finally moved the oil filter out of the engine compartment and under the left battery tray. Put in the proper engine tin and its better sealed now that there aren't any oil filter hoses running through it. Adjusted clutch cable, replaced both brake light switches (one stopped working, figured we'd do both while we were down there) and bled the brakes. Adjusted valves, greased the front end, new grease in front wheel bearings, oil change, new battery ground strap, finally hooked up the oil temperature switch the PO started to hook up but never finished, installed a new retrosound radio and I think we're good to go for our road trip down the 101! Pumped!

I just bought lifelong fire insurance for under 200 bucks. Thanks to user kkjellquist for the heads up on this little number:

Star adjustment on the rear brakes for parking brake nirvana. Just a few clicks makes a big difference. Test drive and stomping on the brakes showed no sideways pull...good ta go ..err stop Very Happy

Horn fixed, finally. At the third time of asking. Definitely one of those first time - twelve hours - second time - half an hour - jobs...

I installed an Innovate MTX-L fuel/air gauge and oxygen sensor in my bus. I consider it the ultimate gauge because the main reason fuel injected type 4 engines take heat damage is because L-Jet runs so well in a lean condition and quickly destroys the engine in that state. I got it perfectly tuned, although it was very close to begin with.

Are you going to move that gauge elsewhere eventually? I also plan on adding one, but that digital display looks like it would be really distracting up on top like that. (after your done tuning and just want it for reference)

that's my next project. tail-lights, side marker lights, and all sorts of little breaks I found in the wires going to/around the alternator.

nice setup with all the right tools at the ready!

Nope, that is where it's staying. I am not cutting into my pristine dash or putting it at the bottom of the dash where I can't see it. I thought long and hard about where to put it. I'm 6'3" so it's really not distracting to me at all. I have LED lights in my gauges, and although you can't tell in that crappy cell phone picture, they are really bright too. Plus the gauge dims when you turn the headlights on.

No, I have no radio, just the original delete plate.

Troubleshooting another issue.....new battery ground strap, new connectors on FI grounds, cleaned transmission grounds, moved AFM wiper a smidge for a fresh track.

Things I did for fun....new $12 fog lights, DD CHT gauge, and fuel pump kill switch in engine bay for theft prevention.

Do you have a thread documenting the installation??

Sounds like a project I would like to undertake.

Started the tear down (to clean out 40+ years of "ick"). It was like a museum of grossness! NOT my gunk, the po's. Going to purple clean it, sand and coat it. Then will work on restoring and re installing the westy stuff.

Had my accelerator cable snap yesterday, so thanks to Home Depot I made a Muir-worthy roadside repair to get me home. Now I get to replace the cable!

hit me up when you roll through washington...ill see what i can do Cool

just before my trip to the great land of canada last weekend, me and Dale took off my front bumper, and properly grounded and wired up my driving lights, and fixed my horn. Very Happy also got a new to me set of 27 inch maxxis 751 tires from schwabb, used and only for 150 with rims. i like the look kinda, but these are feathered and hum and i hate that....gonna try and minimize it by rotating a few times to find the best placement, but whatever. i will go with grabbers next time i have money for such extra things as tires.
