Denning and 69doublecab, thanks for the guidance, After learning and some understanding, I am pretty certain it was too little tension. Reinstalling and setting the tension/shims it is better than before, lesson learned.

I am in Fargo. After about two years I found our bus here in Fargo, but he spent first 36 years in East Oregon.
First camping trip is next weekend! Can't wait. _________________ 1970 7 Pass/Riviera/Westfalia - Ours

I know Fargo well. Grew up in DL, just down Highway 10.
Enjoy your bus. There is nothing quite like it for road trips. _________________ nothing |

First Ever Bus roadtrip is next weekend. Just getting him back together.
Today so far, purchased and installed apron bolts that were never there.
installed a draw tite factory hitch that was for 68-71 bus and pickups according to stamp on it. It was on my '68 donor bus.
Built an adapter so can be receiver and not just ball. Now I can put a few things outside on Aluminuum carrier like propane and gasoline. Not too heavy though.
Installed new screens for Jaulosie windows. Now I have to remember how to reinstall them. Appears I have to take knobs off.
Wired the 120v land power.
Ordered 7 port USB charger to use in bus and keep my teens happy on this first family bus outing.
I'll have pics of the hitch and adapter in my build thread.
Time For Introduction & Build Thread
Still need to install interior panels and sound/insulation. Been driving without them. Still fun to drive and people don't smile any less when they seem him. _________________ 1970 7 Pass/Riviera/Westfalia - Ours

Gary/aeromech is going to check out my 2.0 Type 4 Engine today! I'm excited to hear what he has to say about the engine so I can start moving forward. Crossing my fingers for some OKAY news.

Finished door insulation. It made some difference in sound, but mostly glad I know it's there.

Finally got back to work on the 1970 bus. Totally ignored while we acquired a super clean 1987 Westy, and took a road trip.
Anyway... had color matched single stage paint for the engine compartment and the primered slider door. Got that all sprayed out, but it's just a patchwork paint job. The rest of the bus has a lot of rattle can primer spots and a couple of Bondo islands. Someone else will be doing a nice paint job one day.
Returned to its unintended engine rebuild project, and got the new off-set oil cooler fitted and installed, along with the fuel pump and generator pedestal. Working on fitting up the doghouse fan box and its discharge ducting. The Wilson book has been instrumental.
Drove the 1973 bus around a little bit to keep it from rotting away. |

Lesson learned!! Replaced my fuel lines today and found the ticking time bomb of these braided fuel lines. Gates Barricade for me from now on! The lines in the engine compartment looked brand new, this is the line that runs above the transaxle.

That's why I dropped $200 for SS braided lines. |
Why not just spend $30 on quality rubber line like Gates Barricade? _________________ nothing |

Ready for the rain. Replace the windshield washer hoses, and cleaned wires contacts and fuses for good measure.
