Pulled the throttle pedal linkage, took it all apart, sanded out a couple of bumps and greased it. Cleaned and oiled the heim joints on the carb linkage. Pedal feels like a new car...why didn't I do that years ago?! _________________ http://thickrubber.blogspot.com/ Writing, Surfing, and Exploring NZ's deep south by VW...

That's really what I love about this thread. Scan any page or two for a laundry list of items I can do to my cars that don't need it NOW, but will soon enough.
*thumbs up*

That picture just reminded me that I need to fix my throttle pedal. The hinge is currently held together with a couple of zip ties. Been working fine for too long, but I need to add it to my slowly-shortening winter-time to-do list. _________________ nothing |

Water was leaking in through the front bolt of the luggage rack. It had weakend the roofliner to the point that when I pressed on a discoloured area to see if that was where the bolt came through - my fingers went right through it. sigh.
With the torn liner, rain was now dripping on me while driving - in Oregon. nuf said.
Couldn't get that darn "bolt" off to save my life. It wasn't a bolt. Some kind of locking metal threaded thing that twisted when I held the inside flange while attempting to loosen the nut that was up top-outside - rusted solid.
Co-worker has a little tiny sawsall and cut that sucker off for me. Had to cut it both up top, and the locking flange on the inside....good thing I have a hole in the roof liner....
All fixed now, used an engine bushing to replace the big rubber bushing and stainless steel bolt with rubber sided washers.
It's a nice and dry drive now.
All done for under $10. Don't want to know what replacing the roofliner will cost/entail just yet.
P.S. Am looking at impact tools now. _________________ '74 Bay - ASI camper body w/'72 Bay - undercarriage and a '76 2000cc rebuilt engine
