What's wrong with that? I used them to hang the xmas lights around the gutter of the house. The gutter clips kept letting go and the whole lot would just drop to the ground in a spectacular wave. So every few clips I used a peg. Worked brilliantly. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). Did a bit more interior work. most of it isn't visible. I did cover the front bit of the r'n'r bed with the carpet from the boot (trunk) of the dead Magna. Considering what it is it looks rather good. Sort of gives the back seat a kind of audio equipment look. Still have to bolt it in and put the speakers back in but it's an improvement over ratty spray painted ply.
Picture pending when I reattach it.
Oh, I also finished attaching the bit of wood behind the bench. I still need to get some quad or something to clean up the transition but that's going well too.
Stuck with doing nocash things for now. The lack of a hard drive on the PC has been driving me nuts so I bought one tonight. Went for a 128gb SSD. No moving parts, nothing that can be drastically affected by dust, vibration, shock or thermal cycling. It also dawned on me that SSDs are the solution to something that has bugged me forever. How to use a notebook to play music etc. in a moving vehicle without concerns to the health of the hard drive.
The though of having a modestly sized LCD and netbook in the back to keep kids entertained on the long road is an intriguing one. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). Only hurts when I laugh.....$25 per section takes 3 to make it around the cover or my tent. _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Stuart, those are some awesome busses and babes! Looks like a lot of fun.
Alin- that's some mighty fine work. You're a brave man to pull all that apart like that. I've read your thread and you have a badass bus. _________________ -Tony

Tried to do some things but it's cold. My hands just seize up so I had to give up. Thought it would be a good day to actually test the rear heater properly but I couldn't get it started of course. battery was too discharged so it's out there charging. Bit of a shame.
I was planning on putting the speakers back in and re-bolting the front of the back seat.
Yesterday I bought some brackets from the hardware store so I can finish mounting the cabinets, and also put a bracket on the back seat to attach it to the wheel well because due to a slight oversight on the original installer's part one side only has two bolts securing it. This is because the third hole pops through above one of the outriggers making a nut and bolt impossible.
The brackets were highway robbery so I only got what I absolutely needed. $5 to about $12 each for galvanized L brackets. Really?
Also started researching how to use the heater I bought. I have a few ideas. One of them uses a 12-24v step up but I need to work out what the required current is for the fan. I figure if I connect my ammeter to my existing 12v unit of similar design, see what it uses and divide by two I have a rough figure of what the 24v unit will use. It's a small motor so I'm hoping that it won't draw a whole heap because 24v, 6A inverters are affordable. Above that not so much. So maybe I'll be lucky and the 12v fan will draw less than 12A.
Still haven't got a clue where I can fit the heater. my previous ideas didn't pan out. I also have a ford heater core, a mitsubishi blower fan and the VW booster fan up my sleeve... and boy do my arms hurt. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). Drove it...a bunch! It has been my daily driver for the past two days! This is a big deal to me. Going backwards over the past few weeks I have:
*Replaced the fuel lines on Sunday and got the filter out of the engine bay. I used 5.6mm 30r9 I sourced from the UK and I used the proper pinch clamps.
*Replaced the glass in my drivers side view mirror. I had a piece of glass cut for passenger side as well and will replace that sometime in the near future.
*I registered it last week in Rhode Island!! After sitting in my garage and getting occasional TLC for the past two years since our move from GA we are legal and rolling.
*Went to one of the few local ACVW garages to ask a few questions about getting past inspection. Should not be a problem after getting the small crack in the windscreen filled.
*Removed rear hatch window, repaired minor rust, installed window with new seal--slightly sloppy install with some torn rubber, but it is perfectly functional.
I am thinking of using the bus as my daily for the month of July. I will definitely be doing what I can on my budget to keep the rolling resto going. _________________ STOP FRACKING
