|
|
I have a '70 Ghia that was lowered when I bought it so I don't know the particular specs of what was done. I know it has 2 1/2 dropped spindles in front with aftermarket 8 spokes all the way around. It has 145s up front and 165's in the back. Yep, it rubs the front fender lip in the front when I turn driving slow and I can't fit my fingers between the fender and the tire in the rear but they don't rub.
I'm new to the VW scene and have been told that it's the offset of my current rims that is what's wrong. The dropped spindles add another inch of width to the front end and that is the major reason the tires rub when turning.
I've been told rims with the stock offset will solve these issues but I don't know what the stock offset actually is. I guess I need to account for the extra 1/2 inch up front when selecting new rims also.
What is the stock offset for a '70 Ghia? I'd like to go with wider rims too, like some 15x6 in the front and 15x7 in the back. Is this possible with an otherwise stock suspension? Thanks! |

SWEET!!! That link was most informational helowrench! Thank you very much! I now have a good idea of what to look for in some rims. Now I need to find out just how wide I can go front and back and still not have anything rub! Thanx again! |

You really can't go any wider without rubbing w/dropped spindles. I've got a set of ET34's & ET46's for sale in my ads. I ran !95X60 Michelin on the 34's down 2 notches on my square w/NO RUBBING! Chrome them! |
