Every time I drive through Astoria OR, it seems I see a couple parked around town. I saw two yesterday, but could only get a pic of this one. The other one was a tan/gold late 80's Westy with some bikes on the back.

I think I've seen this one pictured here somewhere on the samba before?? I also have a sneaking suspicion that the owner was having breakfast in the Columbia Cafe, which is where I was having breakfast too, but I'm not positive Smile

Yep. That's Aswah and family. Hard to miss! Very Happy

Today between Quebec City and Rivier de Loup I saw 5 Westies (76 up) and a Eurovan. This Quebec area is loaded with them. Have no idea how many I passed that were west bound.

Recent non-Vanagon driving trip to Kentucky revealed only a few Vanagons to see.

Here's a Westy in the lot of a repair place in Louisville on Lexington Road. Lots of seam rust.

Here's another rusty one in the Clifton neighborhood, not far from the first one.

Between Bozeman and Spokane on the 30th I saw 3 Westys and 1 tintop Vanagon. One of the westies was an air-cooled, navel orange yellow. Beautiful.

Got a wave or a peace sign from every one. Very Happy

Westy sightings here are very rare, but there must be lots of travellers to Nova Scotia this year, because in one hour today I met 6 Westies on the highway. 5 T3s and one beautiful T1.

Also a T4 Winnebago and T4 Rialta.

Funny, those were all on the 100 Series (main) highways. On my return I took the back roads and saw zero. Word of advice…if you want to really see this place…get off the main roads!

Anyone here?

Saw two today - a real treat around here.

Saw this little gem outside Lowe's. No tow vehicle attached. Waited a bit, no one came by. Would have liked to know its story.

Also saw this one

Stopped in to look at it. Plate on other car was a handicap, so I thought I would ask about removing it for them as their garage looks about to fall in. Elderly man hobbles to the door. I introduce myself and inquire about the VW. In a gruff voice he says it's his grandsons and he has no idea what he will do with it, if anything.

It looked solid enough, but tires were extremely dry rotted, windows had a half inch of dirt, stuff piled up under. No plate so I could not tell when it was last registered without trespassing into the garage to get vin.

Bet it has a zillion mice in it.

No pics to speak of but on a 4th of july trip to New hampshire White Mtns
I spotted a grey/silver westy w/ Quebec plates going up Mt Washington while we were going down

spotted a escorial green westy on Rt2 in New Hampshire at a restaurant.

bittersweet we spotted more classic beetles than westies on this trip.

Spotted 5-6 vanagons and 3-4 eurovans on my trip to Yellowstone this weekend. May have followed the one spotted in Cody in from the North entrance but it was in a hurry!

Drove from New Brunswick Canada to Martha's Vineyard Mass and back, spent a week on the island. Saw 4 tin tops on the island, 2 appeared local, was parked right behind a red Carat in Oak Bluff, saw only 2 westies on the way back.

I keep running into 70's Westy's in excellent condition in NS on the back roads. They are all from Quebec. Plus of course I did meet with one from East Preston almost a week ago.

Was in bryson city and asheville NC this week. Its a lot more fun to play spot the westy when you actually see some. I hope to one day see a photo of my westy as the spotted one. Also when I was in Holiday FL I met a fella who had several VW's including a brown 85 westy in the yard... Turns out he has a shop off of 19 near my brothers shop. I ll be on the road today and I ll keep my camera ready.
