I saw a brown watercooled tintop with round headlights in Oxford, OH the other day. It's been ages since I've seen any around here.

Managed to snap a picture of a red hightop here in the beautiful south of Spain.

Missed getting a pic of a Blue Hightop here in Seville.

So it was kind of like shooting fish in a barrell, but I saw this one last weekend.

The van drives and rides nice enough, but I ended up with crabs afterwards.

In Richmond VA on Saturday morning, a lifted silver (Syncro?) Westy was headed toward town on Huguenot Road near Robious when I saw it. SA grille, big bumpers, roof rack. Very nice. I flashed my lights but was in a red Mopar minivan towing a trailer loaded with wood splitter and generator so expected and got no response.

Saw this one over the summer while on the ferry out of Tsawwassen -- a beautiful silver Westy. That is $50k Westy for sure.

FWIW -- that's my EVW lurking in the back. Laughing

I saw a beautiful Silver-grey later Westy with an RMW rear bumper on I-70 westbound in Kansas on Sunday. I never see Vanagons on the interstate, much less at this time of year. I was going 90 in the other direction (not in a Vanagon) so I didn't get a pic.

Went to the warehouses where we ride the motards. Crazy kids!

I found out who owned it. It was tagged. He sold it to me. It was not a give away he also owns a Syncro Camper and knows what a diff lock trans is worth.

Last Wednesday, I needed a haircut, and Winston needed a van wash and his yearly oil change--and since my barber rather likes Winston and asks me about him, I drove Winston to warm his oil and get him washed and to let my barber have a look at him.

The barber was on vacation. But when I returned after washing Winston and letting the line at the Barbershop thin out, I had a chance to park him next to another pretty 1984 Westfalia camper and get this photograph, that somewhat proves my old adage about 'As cameras, cell phones are great cell phones.'

A fellow came out of the coffee shop to admire Winston and ask questions and to make me unjustifiedly suspicious (must wire in that kill switch!), but then out came the other Van's pleasant owner, who was just leaving, but paused to admire Winston and tell me that, yes, she WAS letting the Brothers Blazer service her faithful friend, which indeed was purring when she drove off. She left you all this cheery smile and utterly unobscene gesture:

Two Westies, that pass in broad daylight...

Shocked

Best!

But the most important one I saw was mine which I hadn't seen in over three weeks (transmission rebuilder was really backed up).

And that was probably only half of them there. Stephan's shop is Vanagon nirvana.

We dropped by when we were at Grass Valley in June. Vanagon Mecca of the West, and really nice people, too. Smile

Someone is getting a new blue westy. Not here. Saw them moving it from the rear location to middle before leaving.

Saw a pretty champagne colored 1987 Westy at the Delta Air Lines office off Virginia Avenue here in Atlanta- a rare site indeed.

This morning? I'm headed there now to work at the Delta Jet A tank farm.

It was there Thursday morning, maybe off Loop road-right across from the new museum. I tried to get a closer look but the lot was full. I told the attendant I just wanted to look at the Westy and they looked at me like I was asking to borrow one of the Delta jets for a quick lap around the pattern. Looked good from behind the fence.

I've seen this one driving around Marin a bunch of times, (kind of a daily occurrence around here). But today it parked 20 yds from our house. A very nice rig. Plz PM me if this one is yours. Would dig it if I could ask you some questions.

I really like the looks of that Vanagon. I have been looking hard at replacing my Weekender with something like this.

Is that a Bay Window Doka in the background?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and make a sweeping generalization: Dogs cause Vanagons. I saw three this weekend and each sighting occurred after a dog walk at a local park. Different parks, different routes, different times and three new vans in town! Amazing!

Saw this Syncro Westy first while returning from the river Saturday morning.
