There was a Gray Westy in the North Adams flea market, and the guy did mention that he was going to Hartford, Ct. the next day. I just didn't put 2 & 2 together. Up on rt 7 just over the line the was a shop with a couple of 84' Westy s out front and a very nice White Bay Window Westy there also

That dealer is in Pownal VT, come back with your Synco and I can show you tons of great trails to drive on only a mile from there. These are old unmaintained roads still legal to drive on. |

Saw a late silver Westy loaded up with bikes and rooftop box headed east on I-64 through Richmond this week, probably going to the beach for the holiday weekend. Open windows on that hot day indicated no A/C, so good luck this summer. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

Spotted this Syncro Westy from Colorado at the museum in my home town over lunch break! Sweet machine. Couldn't make out the date stamp on the gutter, my camera sucks!

Saw both of these Syncros in the Alice's Champagne Palace parking lot in Homer, Alaska on Memorial Day weekend. The stock looking one had AK plates and the red one looked pretty customized, can't remember what the plates were.

Saw about a dozen this weekend between Spokane and Bozeman. Half in Bozeman proper, and the others while traveling along I-90. Most waved, and the others, I'm assuming, were changing the radio station as I drove by.
No pictures while holding it at highway speeds, but it's great to see the Westfalias out this fine weekend. Happy Independence Day everyone! _________________ '85 Westy |

This one belongs to Ned Bacon, he's finishing up his north to south trip. That Syncro has been from the southern tip of South America and now to the northern tip of North America.

I followed this root-beer Westy into Crater Lake a couple days ago. We joined a truly terrifying horde of people on the holiday weekend.

That red Syncro has got to have the absolute ballooniest tires one can fit onto a 14" rim. They look to be over 30" in diameter _________________ Casey--

We'll be driving our '87 Camper GL roundtrip from St. Louis, MO to Indianapolis, IN this coming weekend to attend the taping/filming of a future episode of the PBS "Antiques Roadshow". So someone should watch out for us and report a sighting of our Silver Camper scooting around...

Saw this Syncro in Fort Lauderdale, FL. this past weekend.
Older guy who was happy to talk. He removed his front axles for better gas mileage. It is a conversion done by some company out west. Definitely not an original Westy top. Interior cabinets were not the Westfalia originals either. He and his wife have done some miles in this and it looked great none the less.

First post on the forums.
I just got back from a 10 day trip from switzerland/austria/italy and saw some vanagons there. The camper culture in Europe is insane.
This was at a camper only parking lot at St Giuliano Public parking ne
This one was in Dolomites Italy at Lake Misurina.
This was at a ski resort in Lichtenstein
Not a vanagon, but I thought it was pretty cool. Base of the gondala lift to Aescher Cliff Restaurant
There were a bunch of brand new VW Californias around and a few ford transit westfalia nuggets. |
