The tradition of counting VW vans continued this weekend, during our family vacation up in Leavenworth. We counted 21 rigs, and got to park behind a NAHT high top from South Dakota in town. It was completely covered in white bedliner, which was a finish I'd never seen up close in person before. Since the Bluestar is currently under the engine swap knife, it may be our last major family trip in the Quattro. _________________ Casey--

Beige/khaki colored early Westy (no rear wiper) with Cali plates getting on I-5 S in NE Seattle
Savannah Beige Westy on I-5 S a little later as I was heading north.
It's a daily thing for me. _________________ Currently -> Frida: 87 Tizian Red (mostly) Vanagon GL Westfalia w/ 2.0L ABA conversion

Seattle is crawling with Vanagons...
There seem to be a lot visiting Santa Fe this month, too! We locals are hiding from the rain. _________________ Scott

There aren't many: do you have a rear wiper or no? This gem didn't.
I'll look for you next time. _________________ Currently -> Frida: 87 Tizian Red (mostly) Vanagon GL Westfalia w/ 2.0L ABA conversion

Golden Gardens or Shilshole marina? I see that orange Syncro regularly. My guess is they live aboard a boat. Some folks here mention they rarely spot a Vsnagon where they live. In that parking lot it seems like there's always a minimum of 4, not counting the Bay's. _________________ - Jim

The orange Syncro was at the marina. I would assume a live-aboard arrangement as well.
There are so many around here, I really had no idea until I got mine. _________________ Currently -> Frida: 87 Tizian Red (mostly) Vanagon GL Westfalia w/ 2.0L ABA conversion

No wiper.
"Gem'! You're too kind. I was going to point out dings and cracks as identifiers.
Please do look for me. I'm usually dragging my two little daughters around. It'd be nice to meet.

I Saw a Westfalia on Stone Road in Centreville, Virginia 9/2/2016 I was in the blue westfalia. Gave me a thumbs up, sorry I couldn't reciprocate I was mid sip of a drink.
Did a 10 day trip through Austria/Switzerland/Italy.
Kept my eyes open for some vanagons. I saw a bunch of 2015/2016 VW Californias and man are they nice wish we had them over here. Saw a nice ford transit with a westfalia conversion. The camper culture in Europe is insane. We brought a tent with us and slept at a camp ground in the Dolemites and saw a bunch of cool set ups and rigs.
Saw this van on the road up to Malbun Ski area in Liechtenstein.
There is a public parking area before the bridge to Venice. Next to it there is a RV camp ground. Saw this there.
Saw this at Lake Misurina at the Dolemites.
Saw this in a rest stop in Switzerland pulled in at night.
Not a vanagon, but I thought it was neat. Parking lot near the gondala to hike to Aescher Cliff Restaurant in Switzerland. The food wasn't bad, but the beer was rewarding.

Took a trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York last week and saw a few. Did not get a pic of the first one, an early yellow Westy in Geneva NY but exchanged waves with the driver, then just minutes later saw this '82 sunroof van.
Couple of days later saw this one in Seneca Falls. Serious kitchen wall rust.

White Westy heading out East End rd, Homer, AK. Last weekend. Haven't seen it around before.
Saw this one in the lot across the river from McCarthy Alaska mid August. Cruised by a couple of times but nobody was around. Cali plates.

Another one pops up out of nowhere, this time a somewhat battered '87 on Broad Street in my old neighborhood at lunchtime. My guess is that the driver is in the Indian restaurant. Good choice.
Note the dryer ducting directed toward the driver's head. I tried to see what was going on but the van was full of stuff and the side windows too heavily tinted. Canoe shadow on the windshield made for a glare-free peek inside.

Driving back from CO, the "loneliest road in America" (US 50 in NV) wasn't so lonely with three other Westys out for adventure. _________________ 1985 Tintop 4 sp GW 2.3 “Connie”

Made a run up to the Hagerstown MD area for a couple of days of riding on the C&O Canal Towpath and while heading through Charlottesville was snuck up on by this one. He honked as he passed and got off at the next exit.
