My friend confirms that it is probably the black hub cap that was on the car.
We are trying to find out what happend to that car. He says it was pulled off the assembly line. |

OK . . . "Look closely" . . . .
I was born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1948 (U.S. ZONE) and have this tattoo . . .
Does that help with anything

Ok tattoo. ......
There seemed to be some doubt as to whether or not the hubcap in question was actually used on a production car. Others have shown that some prototypes (likely 1939) and early KdF did indeed wear them. I just offered more confirmation with a picture I didn't see anyone else post. As to whether or not the person that initiated this thread has uncovered anything else about the car he mentioned that allegedly wore them.... who knows? |

KdF cruise line? I know they offered cruises through the "strength through joy" program. KDF schiffs Robert Ley and Wilhelm Gustloff. Interesting find. |

That's what the seller is suggesting.
ARMBANDS #37041 KdF “Strength through Joy” Tour Guide Armband
This armband is a large woolen example, probably worn over a great coat. It is very beautiful and of highest quality throughout. The wool is a dark navy blue color and remains in perfect condition. It is sewn up the rear.
The armband is trimmed with two narrow gold cords which run around the borders. In the center is the logo of the KdF organization. It consists of the cogwheel and swastika of the DAF surrounded by a sunwheel design. The KdF organization, under Dr. Robert Ley, was part of the German Labor Front (the DAF or Deutsche Arbeitsfront) and existed primarily to extol the virtues of National Socialism to the German people, although they operated under the pretense of making middle class leisure activities available to the common man. The KdF would grow to become the largest tourism operator of the 1930's!
Beneath the KdF symbol are the words, in gilt bullion, “Reise / Lietung” or “Tour Guide” in English. I believe that this was worn by a minion of the KdF aboard one of their ocean liners. I cannot overemphasize the high quality of this armband. It is the first one I've come across and it is most impressive and I suspect quite rare.
Mint. $495.00 _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Ah, I'm browsing by phone and did not see the accompanying text. The description seems accurate enough. Pretty neat. |

That is the cog wheel nipple hub cap. I believe that the cog wheel was removed pretty soon after the British took over the plant. The hubcap looked the same, just no cog around the emblem.

Awesome car! I love that 911 in the background too! |
