I found this rim on a tire in the spare tire storage area in a 59 panel van.
It does not look to be a VW rim. Anyone know if that is correct? Do you know the manufacturer?

Thank you. I wonder how it ended up as my spare? Crazy how you would know that. I have never heard of a Wartburg. Guess I will put it back in there as a surprise for the next guy....
Thanks again. |

Those look to have a huge negative offset. Could be just the ticket for curing some rad drop or mod that needed that inwardness. I like where the weights are, too. |

Can the wheel experts shed a little light on this rim. It came with my 64, I know its an early 15 inch wheel.

As far as I know, other than the date, yes they are the same. _________________ nothing |

Pretty sure I've got a set of 14" Thing wheels. Any problem with running them on a Split till I get something else? |

That's what I mean, is the backspacing close enough to work? I don't have any bus wheels to compare to. Just wondering if anybody has done it. |

Thing wheels have slightly more positive offset. As long as the tires aren't too wide you *shouldn't* have a problem. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Yeah, I just didn't want to go get new tires mounted just to find out my wheels won't work. I've got 2 14" bus wheels now, so if anybody has 2 extras I could just run the bus wheels |

I can compare the 2 now, I'll post what I find out. I'm probably gonna run a stock size tire for now so I'd assume it would be fine. |

If you bolt up a bare wheel you will be able to make sure of clearance to ball joints and such. Then measuring the difference between the wheel offsets should tell you whether you will have tire clearance. _________________ nothing |

Sure will. I think all it needs now are wheels, tires & a wiring harness. |
