Would there be any interest in a quality reproduction swivel seat that matched Original specs, available for say $1,500-2,000 k range? I might know a guy that could pull it off. |

I'm sure this has never been done before at OCTO. Would be cool if we planned it for the June 2015 OCTO!!!! Would give plenty of time for everyone |

I found a ad for new swivel seat sliders. I see one has a tab welded on, is that to keep the seat from sliding all the way back and off the rails? Mine uses a bolt and a small threaded block that is removable. The seat wont come off going forward, it hits the steering wheel, so it has to come off the back. Also my buddy noticed that under the drivers side rail is a top hat shaped channel welded on. He says he never saw it on other buses so it must be a swivel seat only item.

That top hat reinforcement is on all swivel seat buses. My seat track has a solid block to keep it from sliding off. It isn't removable. _________________ 62 original paint Turkis double cab

Can we get a picture of this block? Is this Factory?
No solid block on my rails. |

Here is the stop on my bus. I didn't realize how much surface rust accumulated under there. Lol. I need to get that cleaned up.

Alright I see it now, mine has that too. The removable block thing is connected to the seat, but unbolts to slide the seat off the back of the rails! I love finding out these cool things on a swivel seat model. I wonder what else is swivel seat only, is there a list? _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. I started on restoring the 60 SS double door panel today and am working from the front back. This is what I found when I cut the lower nose and outer lower valance off. I wonder if all swivel seats had this. It appears the chassis was slated for a swivel seat when built. The m code for double door and swivel seat were written on the inner valance before the outer was put on. Another interesting observation was the outer valance had no welds along the top of it.

This maybe a swivel only thing.. M code numbers
I found this same writing when I replaced my valance. |

Here's a picture of the second style seat. Not to mention the skinny profile bulkhead and the asymmetrical bulkhead (and a slider but that's for a different thread). If anyone has one of these seats will you please post some pics. The bus in this pic is such a curiosity that it's kind of hard to use it as much of a reference point.

looks like a 8 fuse screw terminal fusebox, which dates that bus as roughly a late 1960. |
I would say that it is a '62 prototype sliding door bus.
note the low top passenger seat and the folding drivers seat. '62 only.
also cargo floor and B-pillar show that it is a slider. |
Check out the Uber style paneling on the driver side. Plus the wood seems to have been painted in grey. |
