It's not, or I would have bought it when it was on eBay. The repaint sucks. It had a nice dash in it. I don't like stepping on someone but I don't want someone to read this thread and jump in without knowing dude is asking double what he paid just a couple months ago. You peal that fender trim off and the paint is coming with it.

But, I don't know if I'd want the fuel hose to the fuel filter laying on the manifold preheat tube. seems like a "VW mechanic" might not let that fly. Or am I over thinking this? _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

The lady on eBay that sold it was sketchy at best. Couldn't give more pics, emailed me all kinds of isht about her family having problems. I'm not saying it's not worth more that the eBay price, but it was sketchy on eBay. Dude took some risk and should get some money for that but don't believe it's a black plate CA car for a minute. It spent significant time elsewhere |

Yeah, and for the price you get wrong dash, wrong bumpers, wrong carpet (aside from the fact it should have rubber mats it has 1966- on four lug carpet in it), wrong dash, wrong door cards, wrong upholstery.... _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I didn't save pics from eBay but I would almost swear it had a correct early N dash. And seat covers and door panels. I wish I saved those pics. I dove into the 912 right after this car sold. The rest is a blur.

Yes, that is routed wrong, there is supposed to be a metal then cloth line that runs under the manifold to the fuel pump. _________________ How to Post Photos

Ah...yeah.
I looked at two of the pictures when I posted my comment...should have kept looking. I went back and really looked at the photos and noticed the seat bases and the 'artistically taken' photos, which is usually a sign of the seller hiding things they don't want you to see.
I do remember that car when it was on eBay now that the link was posted. I contacted the seller back when it was for sale and they wouldn't send any other pictures or really provide any additional information about the car. I think the dude who was working on the car replied to my inquiry. He said he didn't know much about the car but that it ran well and appeared to be structurally in good shape.
Sure, there are a few things that are not *correct* but for the eBay price it wasn't a terrible deal. N model parts are pretty hard to come by in decent shape. It was an okay deal at ~$5k but not at $11k-especially now that the correct dash and bumpers are gone.

Thanks for the link with photos.
FYI, 2040cars is some weird site that steals content from other sites.
They often have ads stolen from here, eBay, etc.
I would never use their "Contact" box there - I think they are just grabbing emails and info to sell to spammers.
I grabbed all the photos though.
BAM!

I wonder what they did with the dash? They ebay ad said it was cracked, but it didn't look that bad. It's a lot better than the choice the new seller went with. _________________ 1964 Notchback

Looks like the correct seats are gone, too- or at least the covers.
A lot of parts seem to have been sold off this car and replaced with Whitney "upgrades". _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I could probably swap my car to 12v, install a small thumping system and still have cash to buy some songs on iTunes. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

HE SAID HE PURCHASED A NEW VW IN 1966 AND REMOVED THIS RADIO TO INSTALL AN 8 TRACK PLAYER THE FIRST WEEK HE BOUGHT THE CAR, SO IT IS STILL A NOS RADIO IN MY OPINION |
No, it isn't.
To be nitpicky - A car radio is no longer "NOS" once it's been installed.
It's a "used" radio, however little it may have been used, after that point. _________________ 1988 Ford Festiva L

I initially thought 'why is this guys car in the parts section'? But then all I saw was a radio...no car, no hookers...nothing but a radio for $1500 _________________
