looks nice. I don't know about $20K nice, I'd need proof on the 23K miles, and better pics Thats a lot of freaking money |
The car was in the classifieds last year but I thought the price was lower...looks a LOT like a car that came from a guy a little further North of where it is now. That car was original and was essentially stored for the better part of 25 years-being pulled out only to be started and run a little each year. The selling price of that car was less than $10k. |

I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.
Thanks to my Tesla driving neighbors, I feel more relaxed driving my SUBURBAN and old VW's.

Custom work starts at $500,000. I wonder if that means the $150,000 entry fee is like their Earl Scheib Special. _________________ '65 1500 S [quareback]

The value of THAT $20K Notch is enhanced by the value of THIS $20K notch:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1719058
Another "restored" beauty that's not even close. For $20k, shouldn't at least something be correct?
The prop rod for the engine lid is a nice touch... not. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Gotta love that chrome plated type 1 generator on that engine. Don't forget the "dogs rubber chew toy", I mean late repopped dash pad. Plus, with that 1, you don't even get heat. Not a lot stock on that one. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

450 Euros is $557.33
I have that same year air cleaner somewhere in my garage along with its manifold and single sidedraft carb. I have my doubts that there is much of a market for that except maybe with The 1500 Club crowd.
I paid $125 for a pair of 32 PDSIT carbs, linkage, manifolds, and air cleaner in 1998. Ah, the good old days. |

That air cleaner is expensive at half of that price, tbh. The potential market for that specific piece isn't that large (1500 Club, mostly). Lack of demand does not mean 200% market pricing, IMO. |

$125 - Were they NOS? Because otherwise that is a ton of money in 1998. _________________ How to Post Photos

$500 is nuts for damaged parts. |

I haven't looked at them in years but I remember them having a few tweaked fins but nothing that could not be carefully bent back with a straightedge.
I also remember having more than 4 pieces for just the 4 rear side windows. But I wouldn't swear to that without checking.
For Beetle people who might be reading - I have seen these same blinds for Beetles too. _________________ How to Post Photos

They were quite used. Now I'm unhappy. The seller had left them on consignment at Vee Dub Parts Unlimited in Huntington Beach. I think the counterman said the seller was asking $175. I balked at that price, so he said since the parts had been there for so long and he wanted to get rid of them he would let me have them for $125. (I tell you what I'm gonna do. Since you're such a good customer I'm gonna take $50 off. It's a steal!) New dual 34 ICT were going for $370, so I thought used stock Solex at $125 was reasonable since it wasn't easy to find a complete carb setup at a wrecking yard. |

That's almost $200 in 2014, adjusted for inflation - not considering effects of the internet and globalization - which drove prices down quite a bit due to greater availability. It was easy to sell parts in the 90's for a higher price when the buyer didn't know that the same parts were cheaper/better somewhere else. |
