The dirt dauber nest is free.
But seriously...$5000?? For a car which clearly hasn't run in years? And has no carburetors? And a trashed interior? |
This car was a couple blocks from my house when it was originally for sale on CL for $1500 obo from the girl that brought it to Houston from NorCal. This was about 4 years ago give or take. She was moving and desperate, I bet she took less than $1K _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I just spotted this car in the classifieds. It used to be my car up in northern California. We bought from a guy in the bay area for $2000. my wife drove it almost daily for a little less than a year before we sold it to a girl in Texas. She flew into California to pick it up. After we had it serviced at a local VW shop for her, she took off on a trip further up north before driving it back to Texas. We never heard anything from after she left and I often wondered if she ever even survived her adventure. I guess that since the car made it to Texas, that she must have too. I don't remember what seats were in it since we didn't do it. It also had a big progressive carburetor on it with a bubble cut into the engine cover for clearance. After finding it for sale again, I got a little sentimental and kinda want it back. But not for $5000. |

to my recollection, she had minor problems somewhere along the way and got it patched up and on the road - and it died just shy of Houston.
She seemed crushed she had to get rid of it but was moving and just had to. I seriously think the current owner got it for around $1K. Maybe there is some wiggle room? I don't see anyone paying anywhere near $5K - especially not in Austin. _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I remember that. It was in a magazine from one of the jamborees I think. It may have been a minibtruckin mag truck jamboree. Paint was done by very talented air brush painter. |

THis guy wants 500 bucks for a fender and a door! Seems a bit high as I have bought running/driving VWs for the same price!

I get emails from eBay for 32PDSIT carbs for sale. This one is a real doozy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-Aircooled-Dual-Carbs-Ty...1741263088
It was offered once before for $144 -- no takers. Now the price has been lowered to $124. Half that price would be too much for these. Look at the pics and you will see that one carb is a 32PDSIT-2 from a Type 3 and the other is a 32-34 PDSIT-2 from a Type 2, meaning that not only are they from different models but they are both for the left side of the engine. One manifold has two balance ports because it originally(?) was a left side manifold as is the other manifold.
In fairness to the seller, he doesn't have any other VW parts for sale, so he probably doesn't know what he's dealing with. |

I've got one of those along with its air cleaner that I would gladly sell for $500. |

Only if you have the rubber collar and both the wing nut things that hold it to the carb
And those side drafts I got like six of those carbs-manifolds and air cleaners. I think Ill cash some in and take the miss to Hawaii _________________

Good luck! Those are not in high demand, otherwise I would list the ones I have.
It seem like people either ask stupid money for these or practically give them away. _________________ How to Post Photos
