Put my 59 in the storage unit, sniffed a little and said good bye until next fall. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build

| Took all the brake drums and associated stuff up to and including the backing plates off my daughters '61. Ran the stuff through the parts washer so I can sandblast soon. Daughters grad is in 5 weeks and I want to surprise her by driving "Betty" her bug out of the garage under its' own power and be able to stop it as well. |

Shouldn't it be the other way around? Putting it away in the fall for next spring? Sorry man. I think I just shed a tear myself. _________________ '66 Beetle Project

I cleaned the heat risers on my 1200. They were really clogged!!! Put it all back together last night. Drove it to work today and it made a huge difference! Little to no hesitation after changing gears, able to maintain speed better on the freeway, too!
Now I just need to adjust my decklid so it doesn't rub. _________________ It's always Quattro season!

Realized what all the whining was about: put new outer seals on my '63 pop out windows. Check that, one window. I stopped after the first because my fingers are killing me. I'll revist the second one next week. _________________ - e

I have on a bus, its not fun but not that bad of a job. The worse thing is if you have to remove the axle itself, the snap ring can be a real pain. |
what year bus? Swing axle or cv? My pain is trying to get at the last nut of the hexagonal retainer that holds the axle tube to the transaxle. it's hidden behind the chasis tube and there's barely any wiggle room. Thanks for your reply. |

awesome, i was thinking that as well but was unsure as how to tranny mounts to the chasis. i.e. jacking it up with tweak the mounting bolts. good to know i have a couple options to try before inevitably pulling motor/tranny. |

I did once, finding that I could move the transmission up enough for the transmission side covers to come off and clear the frame horns...but the reason was that the rear transmission mounts were shot! _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Dang! Mr. lucky with your shot mounts. I'm able to fit a tiny box wrench on that last nut, we'll see if it will crank (was too excited that it fit in there so i gave myself a sandwhich break). |

I media blasted most of the tins for my new engine. Repaired holes in breast plate tin from PO on current 1200. Helped a friend with his muffler. _________________ Tool junkie
