I just stripped down the $50 66-67 seat I bought from Dan in San Diego it has a lot of surface rust but hopefully it won't be a problem...A question does anyone know if the white knob on the backrest lever comes off or not and if there are new ones available? I'm assuming not but it doesn't hurt to ask thanks. I just used all the naval jelly I had for a quick treatment but plan on having and it sand blasted and powder coated.

The knob is roll peened into the lever, much the same way as the window winder knobs are done. If you remove the knob, I think KGP&R sells replacements _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Finally took the plunge and decided to install the multi-piece WW headliner I bought 2 years ago. First time I've done a headliner, began yesterday, it's going to be slow going over the next week working on it after work.
I'm going to replace the crappy padding also, ordering it from JBugs or MAM.

A beautiful Saturday spent doing the spring tune up: oil change, valve adjustment, points adjustment, timing, brake adjustment, spark plug cleaning and gapping, king pin and torsion bar greasing, tire pressure.
Funny how even though I only drive the car 2,000 miles a year it still needs timing, valve and brake adjustments twice a year. I can't imagine how much time I'd spend servicing this car if it was my daily driver. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Finally got a stinger and standoffs. I have been looking for them a lot and I finally got them. Bought both at the no dough bus show. I'll post some pictures later when I take some. _________________ 71 super

Installed a RetroSound Model 2 radio in my '67 and removed PO's mess of a wiring job. Sounds and looks a lot better but, there is still more to go! |

Way I look at it, I'm saving around $700 by doing it myself... _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

It was painful, had to patch a few spots, but I did it. Now I just need to clean off a few finger prints and adhesive stains, and the rest of the interior goes in.
Not show quality by any means but I'm pretty pleased! _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

A lot this week. This all from this week
Saturday/Sunday/Monday
Panhead shorten
Built a 4" beam
Built the drop spindles
Installed everything.
Panhead finished Tuesday
Bought me some cool bits today.
Klassicfab. Gerson metal
56 only heater channels and both sections for the firewall
Wednesday
Body braced up. Welded in some old Half doors and old rusty heater channels removed. New Gerson channels are scheduled to be here next week
Faked up some bullet fenders as my bullets fenders are trashed
Thursday.
Got my funky green heater channels and firewall sections
Welded in the firewall sections and test fit the heater channels. The fit perfect.
Tonight finished welding in the new heater channels. _________________ Jeremy

Thank you much
Tonight's work
Got the passenger side in and door fits perfect.
Also was really wanting to see if I could save the front apron. Didn't want to use some cheap aftermarket one. Pretty happy with the results

Today was a good day. I changed the oil and replaced a broken fuel gauge. I started the car for the first time this year and went for a nice cruise around town. _________________ Henry |
