Was going to post that I took it out for a nice drive this weekend but...driving home from where I keep it stored, this happened..
E-brake lever must have let go. At first I thought I was dragging something, not the case. I finally got home, 40 miles, pulled the drum and thats what fell out. On a lighter note, I recieved my longer safari sliders. Just have to paint em.

I put my seatbelts in last night, the night before a WW shifter lock, and todays plan is to redo the fuel lines and relocate the fuel filter. _________________

Took a quick 'before' shot - and drove it to the body shop - hood forward will be the work this round - front end is damaged pretty badly, looking forward to this step. Will post an 'after' when 'Chuck' returns. p.s. traded the 2010 TDI in for the new MK7 GTI...holy crap it is RAD.

Got my tag light fixed (bad ground). Then adjusted the valves and put some fresh oil in. Took a lil cruise in the 61 downtown afterwards

Figured out the PO installed switch under the dash ran to the alternator to switch on and off the ability to charge the car
Not sure why they didn't just hook that wire up to the light?
I did get my trans mount tightened, fixed the right brake light, and checked out the ignition system too.
It's almost running too well now..... hmm....

Put in some sound deadening behind the rear seat I got from work. On my drive to the mall, I noticed quite a difference in the amount of noise I got from the engine in the cab. A lot less. I can get 6 sheets of 12 "X 12" for $30 so I'll be putting it throughout the interior of the bug. |

Bought some $5 ikea sisal doormats and made floor mats for the front. Will get more for the back seats. I vacuumed out all of the carpet and crud from the parcel tray and assessed the rust hole. Can't wait to fix that. I think one of my trans mounts is bad. _________________

Yeah I know, but the extra $11 would have been gas to be able to buy the quick roof stuff...
Finally bit the bullet and ordered a repop Empi 34 pict 3 carb. Two different solex carbs and they wouldn't run right. Had to run a high idle to keep the bug going, and not stall or stumble. Put the Empi on, adjusted per manual and it idles correctly ~8-900 rpms, and no stumbling or dying. Just a quick trip up to about 45ish and it was great. Going for a spin, so I'll see how it does for a longer period of time. |
