This is probably the weirdest VW related item I own.
Well known Pinstriper and VW customizer Shaky Jake gave up working on cars at one time and went to South America to hunt butterflies.
Years later he decided to start working on cars again and was given this real granite tombstone from Ed "Big Daddy" Roth as a gift.
I bought all the VW items from Shaky Jake's estate and now it resides in my basement.

People usually don't get it when I say that I collect some old VW stuff, but reading this thread fortunately confirms that collecting anything VW is pretty normal behavior.
No need to see the shrink, thanks guys! Razz

I appreciate your insight.

Shocked
I would not judge "normal" by what is here on the Samba, my friend...

Here is a steel plate 12" x 12" , welded scene, (note the use of woodruff keys), tribute to a former independent VW service provider from West Falls, NY. circa 1994 found at a garage sale years later.

An old thread indeed... but I thought I'd add to it. I took this photo recently and figured it fits here perfectly. I collect all kinds of early VW related stuff.
