Anyone know if VW is going to be producing this van for the US Market?
I found the pic online, supposedly a prototype.

I saw this Mitsubishi Delica 4x4 van on the Oregon Coast this weekend. It would be nice for Westfalia to convert a few of these. They're common in Canada. The guy also made a very cool custom roof rack from PVC pipe using gutter mounts. It looked awesome!

That Van is made for foreign markets. Look it up. It's called the VW Crafter.

Well the Crafter is identical with the MB Sprinter II Shocked (besides the engines)
But as far as I know Mercedes also scraped the 4X4 Version.
There are several companies that do 4x4 conversions if you got 20.000EUR + (for the conversion of course Twisted Evil )

Nice, I didn't know Seikel had a nice T5 conversion like that. Portal axles too! You could add a CTIS system with that. Very Happy

There are some camper versions of the mitsu/toy vans. But it's extremely cramped inside: "a la nippon". Very efficiently done to save space, miniaturize. But not a realistic camper. There were just not meant to be this way.

those are funny.... but sort of interesting too. Look sort of cool actually, and not a bad way to go for the weekend warrior. I wonder what size they are.

I have seen one or more of these, in my local area of Canvey Island, Essex, England.

As far as I am aware, they were made solely for the Japanese market, in right-hand drive versions, but some second-hand examples are exported to Great Britain, after they are about three years old, owing to the ultra-stringent roadworthiness inspections in Japan, unlike those in North America. Rolling Eyes

I think I recall reading of an horrendous accident, involving one of these vehicles on a British motorway. The vehicle type was criticised at the coroner's inquest, as being inherently unstable and hence not suitable for general use on British roads!

I seen a few when I had lived in California. and also one in seattle. They must not be that rare or they were visiting from another country. I could not get a look at the plates to tell where the vehicle was from.
