Guess I if I have time to cut up with the rest of the guys, I have time to chime in on the actual topic. 
I am 57, and a Department Director (Audio Visual) in a Resort Hotel here in paradise. In a past life, I was a live sound and studio recording engineer - 24 track, 2" (analog) tape, 15/30 IPS. Not sure I will ever grow up.

56, laid off 5 months ago after 14.5 years. Myself and 87 others were released in favor of "accelerating the revenue stream". (It had to be the 88 of us and NOT the 14.5 million dollar raise that our CEO was given.).
I've NEVER been unemployed since the age of about 13. After the shock of the event, I must say that if I never work again, I'd be just fine. |

43 this month.
Union Sprinkler Fitter with Local #669 since my senior year of high school.
In my spare time (if/when laid-off), I enjoy "salting" the open shops.
Its actually fun and sometimes rewarding to insert myself into the rat shops, for the express purpose of organizing the employees to stand up to their boss and unionize the shop.
And if that don't work, I get unlawfully terminated for engaging in union activities and file ULP charges with the NLRB.
