Hi Folks

My GF and I are looking for some advice.

We have this very approximate route planned for a trip this summer. We fly into Seattle, pick up a rental from westfaliarentals.com and are traveling to a wedding in Idaho.

I'm hoping you might be able to give me some good spots to visit along the route...

Oregon coast? Washington heartland? Columbia river campsites? Portland? Walla Walla?

Any tips would be great

Cheers

We drove our former '69 Westfalia down from Canada and along the west coast of Washington, Oregon and California several times. The 101 highway is very scenic, but has it's winding sections that can slow you down a bit.

Some nice sand dune country around the Florence area of Oregon.

Another interesting trip we took, was to visit several of the volcano sites: Mt. Lassen, Mt. Rainier, Crater Lake and then down to Yosemite...

Take the ferry to Victoria Island. Take Highway 1 across British Columbia and drop down into the Idaho panhandle. Stop and soak in the Hot Springs! If you hit Oregon you gotta see the Spruce Goose @ the Evergreen Aviation Museum! Shocked

one road to swing by is 821 outta Ellensburg going south to Yakima...nice little road by the river and plenty of spots to camp. I would get a copy of the Lonely Planet as there are so many places of interest in Washington...Remember the West side (Seattle, Olympic Mts,) is green and rains while the East side is damn near a dessert and very hot. Both have lots of stuff to see and my friends and family that come here from Europe are in awe by the differences...and distances/time it takes to travel.

Plan a river rafting trip somewhere along your route...great way to cool off and get out of the camper for a day.

PM me if you have any questions

Thanks for all your advice folks - I never got a chance to reply before the trip - but all you comments helped pick a great route. We had an amazing trip.
