|
|
I want to remove the running boards on my '67. I've looked for a commercially made piece that would cover the rough rocker panels... without success.
Can anyone point me to a supplier for these pieces?
If none exist, I have the background to make them in fiberglass. Is there a need for pieces like this to clean up the lower sides of the Bug body? |

http://www.glass-action.com/bug.html#running
Lists widened running boards, but description says they also have stock width. _________________ Throw me a bone here. All I wanted were

I remember seeing some filler panels made of fiberglass in our shop back in the late 80's. They were probably from good ol' Johnny's Speed & Chrome. Maybe someone has a set stashed in their attic? I can't remember if they bolted on, or were supposed to be glued-on. We never sold a set that I recall _________________ OK Thang |

You could go to a tin shop (metalworking or heating duct type place) and have them bend you a couple C channels the width and length of the running board mount, slice the inside to make the bend towards the front and bolt them on with the 6mm inserts that hold the rb's on.
Try thinking outside the box. Everyone wants to buy something and bolt it on. Save a buck and make it yourself. |

Those are the same thing I saw years ago. Also, Mark V makes very good quality stuff. I do agree that is better to make it if you can. _________________ OK Thang |

The front edge of these needs to be finished to look good but overall a nice product.

Looking to put running boards on my 73 Sport Bug, I find Mexican "heavy duty" for about $65 - $75 a pair and German pieces for $100 each. Are the Mexican pieces acceptable, or do i spring for the 3 times more expensive Germans? Or does anyone know where to get good ones at a better price? |
