Bought new.... Tie rods, tie rod flip kit, damper bushings. Cleaned up the wiper motor (looks brand new), and got the cleaning station ready to refurbish my steering box. _________________ 1967 Karmann Ghia |

When getting yer chit powder coated -- -- ALWAYS get it ALL done at the same time -- not 3-4 months apart
The bad news is, it was together for about an hour before I noticed there was something wrong LMAO

I installed new door check straps since the old ones were worn down to the metal and didn't really do anything. These work much better.

Gave everything a nice gloss treatment today, even the underside.I'm just going to suggest that spray cans get a more comftorable nozzle. Getting ready for carpet!

I had taken the nasty old sunvisors off my 70 convertible a couple of months ago when I got it. I decided today was the day to try and clean them up, came out not great but lots better.

Now that you have them clean you can spray them with vinyl paint. |

Ordered the new engine to body seals and new "G" series shocks for it. Got the truck home for the tow beast and the trailer is reserved for next Saturdays trip to the shop. It will be back on the road soon. _________________ Chuck in Socal

I finally changed the oil in the 70 Ghia vert I bought in October. I haven't been driving it but noticed it was as dirty and black as I've ever seen oil so figured nice warm winter day was a good time to do it.

Placed an order for a Newton Commercial carpet kit for my Ghia! The carpet in the car now is from TMI and not the best fit or best designed. Plus, some mistakes were made when it was installed by the PO.
The hard part is waiting the 3-4 weeks for it to be made and then the time for it to be shipped from the UK... |

Drove out to the Desert today with an F350 and a car trailer. Havent seen the Ghia since I park her with my 5th wheel in May of last year and there she sat tucked under the overhang of the 5th wheel. Loaded up and dropped at the shop this afternoon. I should have it running an driving in a week or so! _________________ Chuck in Socal

That license plate would be better suited for a Bug, wouldn't it?
More specifically, for Ebeneezer Scrooge's Bug.

Took apart the speedometer to clean and relube it. It was starting to make noise and the needle was jumpy. Afterwards, it was quiet and smooth. But I may need to re-position the needle as I felt my speed was faster than what it indicated. Makes sense since I reduced the drag within the magnetic drive... |

I spent the last two days installing new Jay-Cee push rod tubes in my Ghia.
It took me about 6 hours to learn that you need to take the heat exchangers off first then remove the tin covering the tubes.
Once this lesson was learned it went pretty smoothly.
I chose to use the spring loaded tubes so I wouldn't have to pull the engine and the heads.
I also bought the seals that EMPI sells.
They seem to be much better suited for the job than the ones that came with the tubes.
I plan a complete over-haul in a couple of years and thought this would get me by until then.
I rewarded myself by putting the top down and enjoy the spring-like weather.
(The only good thing to come out of this drought is we don't have a rainy season any more.) _________________ 67 Ghia Cabriolet |

Just got delivery of new 85.5 pistons & cylinders, and a set of brand new heads. I am rebuilding the top half of the motor for the 1970 Ghia coupe I have. |

No I made that mistake and purchased a single port head, before actually looking at the motor ..... These are new duel port heads. I got my new pushrods, I'm waiting for the engine gasket set I ordered. |
