I had to take the door cards out to adjust the door handles and window winder mechanisms. I reinforced the clips with aluminium tape before I put everything back on. I also smeared a small amount of grease on the clips and they slipped in like the proverbial eel into a hole. So different to the struggle I had before to refit the door cards.

Cool!
Now you'll be able to see just exactly how many mice actually climb in through the open window.

No, that garage is so clean that I think Rick rolls out a futami every night and sleeps next to his car. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Mwah ha ha ha (evil laughter)
Not that I would, but I think immediately of a challenge to defeat the camera especially now we have a photo to stick in front of it and fool it. There are door sensors hooked to alarm bell that would frighten off any villains would I hope.
Actually this is a good idea. Photos and videos will immensely help the authorities with identifying perpetrators. These days lots of inexpensive cameras with Ethernet connectivity are on the market. It makes sense to keep an electronic eye on one's cherished objects.

On Oct. 29 I participated in a Foliage Cruise in my '64 Ghia Cabrio. It was held in the lower Hudson Valley of New York State, by Chris Vallone and his team at Classic VW Bugs. 3 other Ghias were on the cruise; Ramsey's '60 Cabrio which he drove top down, Vince's '65 cherry red Cabrio, and Tom's brown and cream '64 Coupe.

Altogether beautiful: the cars, the place, and the video. Thanks for the link! It's some distance from us, but my wife and I love cruising around the Bear Mountain area; it recalls a more sedate time. |

"I think we should gather up all these folks, send them up to Bear Mountain for a picnic." Too obscure of a Dylan quote? Seems fitting this week...
Love the photos and video, thanks. Used to live Upstate (Rome then Albany) and miss it back there, especially this time of year. Love seeing the Fall colors, the hills, and of course, the vintage metal. Thanks! |

just tinkering...
but took off the air vent louvers prepped and hit the inside with ospho/jasco mix, then hand painted as far as my arm could reach with black rustoleum oil base... Yeah nothing hardcore but is cleaner than before and didn't think it merited an epoxy coating or por15 or the likes _________________ BUS WANTED: 13 window BUS any year considered.. |

I was skeptical, but it works. Wad up the foil loosely, dip the chrome into the Coke, and scrub away. Depending on the amount of build up, it may require a bit more scrubbing. Use Diet, it's not as sticky as regular. Be careful with the clock gauge, it seems the glass is prone to scratches. The spedo and gas gauges came out beautifully. Minutes of elbow grease took of decades of rust and grime. Good luck. _________________ My 70 beetle was totaled Now to build the Ghia I always wanted. Rest in peace Ruby, I will miss you. Hmmm, wonder if I can get a big enough glass of coke to dip my bumpers in, lol. It's been so long that I don't recall what I used to clean my bezels with, but this method works because the foil is softer than the chrome. The clock lens is actually plastic because of the hole required for the adjuster, but it seems to hold up decently enough if you are careful. |

It will also just turn the rust on your bumpers a chrome like color, but it will still look like rust. _________________ ----------------------

I really haven't done anything to the car except give it micro-fiber wipe down, but I did take it for it's first long drive in a couple months. I had thought something was wrong with it and was hesitant to drive it on 3 cylinders. Turns out that it's just another Bugpack muffler burning out (they pack these with toilet tissue?). I checked all the exhaust pipes and it's hitting on all four, and a drive on the freeway showed that it could still effortlessly cruise at 80 MPH. So, apparently nothing wrong outside the exhaust note change. I blame the perception on the daily driver I recently picked up. My former daily driver was setup for road course racing, but was naturally aspirated (which I prefer), so there was not a huge gap between that and a lively Ghia. However, the replacement is the same year and model, but is a sleeper setup for drag racing. Getting acclimated to a hatchback that can embarrass a Corvette kind of screws with your perception... |

Did a hard one today. Replaced the old broken heater cables on my 58 Ghia. So much crud. I had to take the broken cable and ream out the tube from the backside and applied plenty of lube. Two hours later its done. Even got those little rubber seals I've never had before.
