No, I was actually wondering cause I was thinking of getting those btr off road rims and they only come in 4 and 7 inch and I heard that 7 inch dont fit under standard beetle rear set up.

think again. 15x7 cookie cutters with rear lowered 2 notches on 195/60 r15 tires, fits very snug, clears fender by like 1/4 inch and have never had any rubbing whatsoever.

I have heard from german look guys that put big ol 18s and 19s under stock fenders that 7.5 is the widest your can go without modification, depending on the offset of the wheel of course. (offset on my wheels is 23)

Well I think the problem with fitting the 7 inch btr rims is I don't think the back spacing is right so they sit out farther plus they would be on a swing axle car not a irs.

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html

According to a rim width calculator on that site, the widest tire you can run safely on a 4" rim is a 145. Probably could make it a 155, but 4 inch rim is pretty narrow.

Well I finally found the offset and it is 2-5/8 so that means the outside will be at 4-3/8 so will that poke out the outside of the rear fender if I get 7 inch ones for the back and you are right a 4 inch tire is super skinny for the rear of a car.
