I bought a '67 bug from a junkyard for $50 but it was missing the tranny, engine, taillights and steering wheel. But i don't think it would have gotten crushed because when we were picking it up another person stopped and wanted to buy it. So if i hadn't bought it im sure someone else would have. _________________ '70 std bug (daily driver)

In 1979 or 1980 I saved a 1963 Karmann Ghia coupe, Yellow wt black top, from the junk yard. It was involved in a bad front end, rear end accident. Drove it home from the junk yard with rope holding the smashed bumpers on. Made a Baja Ghia out of it. Had lots of fun with it. Ended up rolling it out at Superstition Mountain, fixing it and then rolling it again about a year later on Fiesta Island. Striped it and sold it to the scrape yard. Still have the wheels from it. _________________ Prosit!
I saved this '69 from my local junkyard, the yard is next to the freeway and they had it up on top of a shipping container. I remeber driving by it and saying haha who put that bug up there? I wonder if its for sale? Couple days later it was sitting in my driveway the lady at the junkyard said she got it from an elderly mans family. His kids said that dad needed a better car. It was towed behind a RV since 1969 by the bumper so the apron is messed up a little. The motor is a 1500 and has less than 50,000 miles. All it needed was an oil change new plugs fuel pump and some gas and it fired right up!

Sold it to the scrape yard and besides all the parts I kept I learned even more about being a mechanic & VWs as this was my second car I ever owned. _________________ Prosit!
