I just picked up a '78 Westfalia that was on Craigslist..."$800.00 or it is off the be sold for scrap."

We towed it home Thursday night after paying $500.00. It doesn't run and has some rust holes, but overall it is in better shape than a bus checked out a couple of years ago for $5500.00.

My 72 super came from a co-workers brother who went to the pen, he needed money, which I didn't have, so my co-workers wife was going to call the scrap yard to junk it, so I ended up trading my 90 GTI for it. Now she drives it everyday and loves it.

My 73 Super from a junkyard that was emptying out...

This was its first Christmas in 15 years. Yeah, Santa is sitting in the front seat and there is garland and lights on him. But he loves the attention...Fired right up, only needed a new coil.

For the love of sanity, please find an existing turd and polish that.

We don't need any more contributions to the Abortions thread.

I saved a '74 412 about 4 years ago when I lived in NM. Unfortunately never got around to doing much on it before I left the state and ended up storing on a friend's land... probably going to be on death row again soon if I can't find a buyer, since I can't afford to have it shipped to me.

Saved this '71 panel from the crusher. When I asked the junk yard man about it he had no idea what I was talking about. I took him way out back to it and he looked inside and said " this thing is totally stripped, had I known this was here I would have crushed it years ago" All I could say was, "that would have been a shame". He kinda laughed and shook his head. After a bunch of work it is now back on the road!

I saved a 67 Convertible from the crusher. Brought it back to life in 1992. Had fun with it for a year sold it it 93. Bought it back (from the same guy) in 2009. Now it looks like I'll be the one to part it out and.....take it back to the crusher. Its amazing what lack of driving, properly maintaining, and protecting a car can do in 16 years. Mad
Never buy a car back only due to sentimental reasons.

Search "VOLKSWAGNUT" on YouTube since you cant watch "IT" here.
Better to roll em' how you want and wear em' out.... then let em' rot out.
It's more about the going --- not the showing.
Rebuilt to drive not decorate.

Just found this thread. I saved my bus from a Pick a part type yard. Luckily it had only been out there for 2 days and no one really knew it was there.

Here it is on those rims that are welded together.

Here it is today. Only a few months since I got it.
