I see you are running the 5 bolt drums. If I am running 4 bolt disks, is this going to push the wheels out further than the ones in the pics here?

Hey Todd not sure if I can help or not are you asking about this on a stock beam? or do you have a T1 Beam?? Im not sure what the offset is on the 4 lug disks but mine is not drum it's a CIP1 T1 Disk brake kit

Sorry for the delay not in the Forums much anymore...lol

Are you bagged in thebrear as well? What are you running forbade tank and compressor set up? I was thinking of the same beam you have and only running a tank, no compressor. Your thoughts?

I haven bagged the rear. Yet. The front is a punch drunk customs type 1 conversion air beam. It's narrowed 3" drop spindals and what not. The back I bought lowered spring plates. I got the manual valves/air switch kit from airkewld that came with tank, compresser and all lines & fittings. I went with the manual kit because its just for ride hight.

hope this can be answered here so i don't have to start a new thread, and yes i have searched a ton.

using type 1 disc dropped spindles i know you can run type 3 brakes, with a bearing swap, what bearings? ball joint years spindle bearings??

and the steering box is a direct bolt on to a type 1 conversion beam? no mods required as far as steering ?

thank-you in advance!

Depends on what year type 3 parts you're using. I say that, as 66 and 67 bearings are the same size, but mid 68 on is larger. It also depends on which bug spindles you're planning on using. Mid 68 on are the same, prior to that, 66 and 67 are the same, with 65 and earlier being ball bearings (I think, might have been 64 and earlier). The t-3 used roller bearings thru out production, and shared the size with the 66 and 67 discs on the 65 and earlier drum set up.
Brake rotors changed in size in 72, and prior to that, 66 thru 71 are the same (only the inner bearing and race size changed).

The steering box is the same unit (a bug part).

Honest question, looking for an honest answer, and I think Kris will probably be the best one that can answer. How is the ride and handeling on a type 1 narrowed conversion? I say Kris because he has had plenty of cars to compare
