I have a 66 fastback and i have fitted 4 stud disc/drum brakes. i bought seconhand american eagle empi 8 spoke wheels (5.5 inch) with 185-65-15 tyres , which previously were fitted to a late 72/73 wagon . They would not clear the guards on the rear of my car. anyone fitted these wheels to an early type 3 , or is the rubber too wide, or the wheel , or both? |

Both. The wheel was designed for a Bug and not for a Type 3. They will barely clear with 165's I think. |

yep -- the 8-spoke wheel is a poor fit on a Type 3 due to the wheel's offset... _________________ póg mo thóin

I have 8 spokes on my 67 square. They rube in the back. First I went and got a good set of shocks then I replaced the tires so they will not rub. You could always put springs in the back. _________________ Gas, Grass or Ass ? No one rides to the show for free!! |

They fit awesome, unless you are into the Tricycle look.
im running 195/50's If you ran a lower profile on the 185s, you would have a lot more room. _________________ SubyNotch.com is back up! |
