Saturday, August 30th. You are correct. I'll post some more info when I get a chance. The itinerary is the same as previous years with a couple of small changes. Hope to see you all there!

Kustom Coach Werks is the home to many Hot Vw's Cover cars of which is owned by John Jones. He just happens to live in Grand Jct! The BBQ is at KCW and is always a lot of fun. See you there!

I just thought I would pass on a word of caution to those of you that are running year of make tags. I have one on my bug and bus and have had zero issues over the past 3 years until recently.
Despite the fact that they are only to be run for shows, parades, meetings etc... I have run mine on a daily basis without any problems.
A couple of weeks ago I got pulled over by Littleton PD. He said the tags didn't match the vehicle. I showed him my registration and paperwork and he let me go. I told him I was coming from a club meeting.....just an excuse. He hassled me and told me I needed to display my collector tag at the same time but that is BS.
The next night, I got a parking ticket near Wash Park while parked in front of a restaurant. Again the tag was the culprit. Fortunately after emailing all of the documentation I got it thrown out.
I called the DMV to find out what was going on with the tag. Apparently when you send in the paperwork to get authorization to run the tag, they do not tie that tag back to your collector plate nor your vehicle. So if a cop runs your plate it will not show your vehicle.
I think it is a major gap in the system bit just wanted everyone to be aware of a potential issue. If you parke in an area that has parking cops, you might want to throw your collector plate in the window of you are running your year of make plates. |
