| HI, I just restored a 1959 VW Bug after two amd a half years.. I really love it but my wife does not care for it. I got a pad to put over the new seat covers, and my wife said it did not feel good to sit on it so I removered hers. My is fine. Then she says she smells gas. I painted under the car with anti rust paint and now she says the car stinks. I told her the smell should go away soon. I drove it today and the smell is getting less and less. I want her to learn to drive it in case she has to in an emergency. she says no way. She flat out does not like the car. If I have to drive to town usually she would not want to go. Do I sell her or the car? Thanks |

She likes the '71 Convertible, which runs and is insured. She doesn't like the '70 sedan, which has been sitting "retired" on the side of the house. She wants me to sell that to a member here as it's an Arizona car.... _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Why does she have to like the car? My wife doesn't care for mine, but she doesn't mind because it keeps me occupied. I frankly am glad to have some time to myself in the Beetle because as much as I love my wife, I don't mind being apart once in a while. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

damn... is true!
i think that she need a hobby, maybe something that she want to do instead of thinking that you waste your time in this car... the same happen to me!
mine`s (not my wife, my gf but she`s almost the same) was hating my old beetle for so long before i bought my 70 fastback... now i`m planning to do a complete restoration of muy beetle in our workshop and maybe i`ll turn the fastback my daily driver... and believe it or not, now she loves my bug (she started telling me that the ugly one is the fasty) and she adviced me that is not gonna put her ass in "this type 3" cause is uglier!
maybe your wife can`t love an aircooled like you with all this new watercooled trash running on the streets but... who`s perfect? _________________ sorry about my bad english!!!

Yeah same here oldeskool. My wife was friends with the P.O. (and friends with the PO's girlfriend) of my VW. She even helped them with the bodywork so he could paint the damn flames on it. She loves the car but thinks I spend entirely too much time on TheSamba. I tell her it's a package deal, you can't have one without the other _________________ I was thinking of getting a second job strictly to pay for my car habit. My wife thinks I may have a problem.....
Need correct parts for my 61 Ragtop, if you have em', Guarunteed I need em'! PM me

my gf told me bugs are just "nice".. she didn't really cared for bugs, and in time.. she happen to like the sound and feel on the road. I've taken her to some meetings, she met new people, now she wants to go everywhere in the bug. oh wait! have i told you that this one i drive now is the only bug that actually ran? the previously 2 are still in pieces (after 2 years now) and in desperate need of reassembly..
She was easy to convince from the first ride, she drove the bug, and she'll do it over and over again. i am thinking of finding her a convertible, or just to give her my 58 rag... NOT!!! she looks good only as passenger.. _________________ June 1952 split

Buy her a camper bus, and let her "nest". She may just need a weekend get-away, making memories in the ACVW to spark her interest. _________________ ~Regina~ |

| My wife knows that I have been looking for a couple of years for that "right" VW Beetle to make my daily driver. Doesn't understand how someone can be so attached to an inanimate object like a car. For her, all it needs to do is function correctly, not break down and get her where she needs to go. But she loves me enough to just let me get one. She said that it is going to be my vehicle and I should drive something that I truly enjoy. And based on some of my past daily drivers, she will drive it willingly if she has to (such as when hers is in the shop). |
