| So, my buddy bought a 65 last week and asked if he could use my garage to do his first oil change. After he came crawling out from under the car he had four studs on the tray! I crawled under there took a look and brought the studs with me. None of the threads seem striped in the case just that they were over tightened and backed out. Will these need to tapped and step studded or can lock tight be used? Or what's the fix? I know there's a lot of threads on this topic but mostly for stripped. Thanks |

If the threads in the case are still good, I'd use new or clean studs and clean the threaded holes in the case real well with brake cleaner, and use red Loctite to mount the studs. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
