I just got this 1970 westy for a few hundred I am pretty excited to get it home so I can work on it. The door and pop top are removed in the picture but they are there.

Unused yellow Type 2 Repair Manual with all Supplements attached

I knew only it was in 'unused' condition, but didn't have any pictures or other information to go off of. As I had passed along my previous copy of the infamous yellow Repair Manual, I was simply eager to have another copy for my archives.

This thing is immaculate. I don't think anyone touched it other than to assemble the Supplements section that is part of the attached clear plastic covering. The binding is brand new seeming, it won't lie flat on any page.

I am seriously envious. Guess I need to get serious about looking for one. That might help. Wink

Still can't figure out why these haven't been reprinted.

Nice deal for a power brake (dual port) conversion. These run between 50 and 100 on here, and a little more and less at a swap depending on the seller.

Not sure it's a real Champagne. I'm going to try to see it this weekend if I can. I'd just hate to see it get parted, it looks OK in the photo.

Original paint, nice colors with cool decal and manageable rust. Looks pretty complete and original, and he already rebuilt the engine. This bus has tons of potential:

I must live in the past... Some of these prices that look like deals are way more than I've paid for most my buses.

I pulled 3 buses, 3 bugs and a 914 out of Wy this year for $1800 for the buses and bugs and $1500 for the 914. PO said everyone ran before parked. He wasn't joking. Cleaned the carbs on most and they fired right up. Only one bus was a parts bus but a gentleman wanted it to make Into a off road open body so it to will be back on the road. One of the bugs is getting built for class 11 stock Baja race in San Filipe. I hope to see it in action.

As a general rule, the "good deals" are not found online.

I took a trip up to Joseph's place on Vancouver Island last October - a day trip from Seattle on a float plane, returning by Victoria Clipper ferry.

Joseph was very kind and generous with his time. When I visited he had at least a dozen (or two) buses on his property in various conditions and one green one in the middle of a restoration in a paint booth.

They are legit in that they exist and are in business and have a good array of vehicles to sell. I found the visit to be very informative and it was a pleasure meeting Joseph. Needless to say I can't speak for the integrity of the essay contest, but they are nice friendly people.

I looked seriously at a few of his vehicles. In the end I decided to work with a vehicle in not so pretty condition and start from scratch with bare metal.

Their prices are quite a bit higher compared to some nice buses available south of the border, but Canada seems to have it's own economy and pricing for buses which I attribute to very high taxes (PST and GST) and possible import fees. Registration and insurance are costly too.

This looks decent, more than I would pay, but I'm cheap. Lots of extras. Of course you never know what's behind those bras.
