That's bullshit. I'm talking a wheelie from a launch, on flat ground, like you would do at a drag strip. That's what he was implying in the first post, and that's what i called him on. I'm not saying that his car can't get air if he ram-fucks a speed bump with it, because basically anything can do that. I'm saying it doesnt have the power, traction, or weight to lift the front wheels. _________________ -Thomas

Or i can hire a bunch of Mexicans to stand on the back, like we used to do with golf carts, and dump the clutch in 1st. _________________ 59 bug

Ok off topic, your impala vert is badass, what are your plans for it. My dad had one when we were growing up man i wish he would have kept it cause then it could be mine, and he took care of that thing. _________________ 59 bug

I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

I have partied with Brazilians before and there some pretty big guys.. cool as hell though
roach and I have a deal and it has to be a launch on flat pavement no type of help... I doubt it will but it does some badass burnouts though, and I do need some new tires "starting to dryrot" so Ill just burn them bald. _________________ 59 bug

Brazilians are big guys? WTF?
It can be made to work on a daily driver, but it's really no better than a stock carburetor. And it's bullshit for power. You can read up on it, just search for "Weber Progressive" and you'll get a lot of information.
The carbs you want for power, on an 1835, are a pair of 40 or 45mm DRLA Dellortos, or 40 or 44mm Weber IDF carburetors. I think that a pair of Weber 48mm IDAs would be too big for that engine.
Go spend some time in the performance/engine forum and soak up some knowledge! _________________ -Thomas

Your carb will work fine if jetted correctly. Buy Weber Performance manual written by Bob Tomlinson to learn everything youll need to know about webers. 48 IDAs will work great on a 1835, but I agree with Roach that you should get more knowledge / experience. Ill take a shoe sandwich also, when your bug pulls its first wheelie. |

Thanks, I did alot of reading on it last night after I posted and answered my own question so I decided to go with Dual 44 IDFs. _________________ 59 bug

Ok it has been a while since I have posted here and I have learned alot about vws since then, well I am nearing the end of a stroker build and I have the engine put together to the point of the heads torqued and no spark plugs are in, I have the dowel pins lined up on the bearing I was really meticulous on that, I have split this case well over 8 or 9 times just being nervous about every little thing. the thing is I cant turn the engine over with the fan pulley but I can with the flywheel I feel like it should be a little easier than that to turn " I am not a wimp". I think it might be the assembly lube i used the lucas oil assembly from autozone. But I think Im going to pull it all apart again even though its sealed up because I have to wait till friday for pushrods, I really do think its the assembly lube i used though that stuff is sticky. I am going to use my break in oil and lube everything with that instead of the lucas. I might just be anxious because its my first build on a vw engine. any input good or bad... bring it _________________ 59 bug

I had 2 problems with mine when I put it togeter for the first time. The first problem was that one of the pins was not lined up and the bearing was pinched. I too thought I had everything lined up but it wasn't.
The second problem I had was with the distributor gear. I had it in to make sure I had everything lined up to TDC and it had slid out away from the gears enough to just jam the gears so it would turn a little then get tight and grind a little, then it would turn again.
Now that I have the pins all lined up and the dizzy drive gear in correctly everything is turning very very easily. _________________ www.aircooledaddicts.org
