My bus turns 50 today, * slowly* trying to correct past injustices that were done by DPO's and bring it back to its former glory..

Here's one.
It was repainted back in the day for the Jewel Tea Company, but the interior is still grey.

The front seat mounts were added in, and subsequently removed by the current owner to return it to swivelseat glory.

Hi guys I'm restoring my 1960 bug
I'm going for grey and thought light grey L345 is nice however
When I got a spray sample it'd kinda looked greenish tinch grey

What would be a good light grey color?
Thanks
Rizal

There shouldnt be a greenish tint to L345.If anything, its more of a beige tone.Perhaps your sample was squed.Good luck with your choice.

Yep, that looks right to me. It is supposed to have a slightly greenish tinge to it.

I agree, and as the paint fades, it's probably harder to see the green hue. I took a sample piece off my truck as well as a part painted with Wolfsburg West's rattle can version of the color. I found a color chip real close and here is what it contains in one single stage quart:

462.1 grams "mixing clear"
402.4 grams "strong white"
91.6 g black
77.3 g "ferrite yellow" (a very muddy dark yellow)
9.5 g green (very dark tonor of green)
7.9 g magenta
1.1 g blue

My version came out a little light, so I add 20g of black per quart and it looks dead on. With almost as much yellow, blue and green as it has black, it should have a slight green hue to it. There is no way you could make this type of grey with just black and white, there has to be a large quantity of another toner(s) to give it that tan look. I think my version uses the magenta to balance out all that yellow and blue and bring it back to more of an earth tone.

I stripped 5 layers of paint off my bus last year to get it back to it's original colour of L 345 Grey. I think it looks so much better this colour than the metallic blue it was before. It's about 60% original paint now with no bondo covering the dents.
