I just bought two Split doors from 1951/52. I noticed something strange with the lock of the right door. Some pin sticking out. Is that weird or does my knowledge of Split Beetles lack here?

The one on the right is older. My 52 has the left style. I have seen the other style on earlier cars. _________________ " Southern Comfort Vintage Volks "

But they come from the same car. That means that that car has two different b-posts, where the locks click in....

Normal split doors, right door has pin for locking up, left door has that function in the handle by key. |

But I also have a L/H and R/H door from a 1949 Split and they both look the same (like the left one on the photo).
How does that work then? _________________ Modern cars are nothing but visual pollution !

Never seen a door with that pin before. I could be wrong, but none of my splits have it. I'll double check tonight.....
Could it be some kind of homemade hack??? _________________ John Henry

C`mon guys !!! the protruding pin is the lock for the right side door , every left hand drive car has that pin on the right side door ....
as someone told above , the lock function on the left side door is found at the key .....
i don`t really know if that lock can be installed on a left door ....i think yes but i have never did it .... _________________ in my Garage:

Meaning "the same" as in:
The same as the pictures above?
or
The same for L/H and R/H?
This came out of the L/H and R/H doors from a Beetle from 10th June 1949:

I mean the same as picture above (driver side without pin, passenger side with a pin). It's like that on a 49 I've seen yesterday (well, it's a frankenstein, but it's a 49).
