I have read this and read this ...
Ready to start on this part of the project. Having a beam built -4, custom shock towers.
Is there any significant advantage to changing tower height? What would you do and why? |

sorry to spruse up an old thread, but this thread has helped me loads, i have a system including the monroe air shocks tyre pump and a mechanical ball valve. the shocks came but with no connector on them to put a air line in. the connector on the air shock is like a cone for a quick release air connector does anybody know which connector i need to connect up an air line. I'm using hydraulic hose with jubilee clips at the moment which aren't the safest. |

The connector is an odd-ball size. It is a JIC #4 thread. _________________ 1969 Beetle |

Dropped spindles and a 10 cm narrowed front axle. The airride set-up is from a dutch company called Volksprojects.
They ship to a couple of European countries like sweden, UK, France and Italy.
Compressor is a Viair, Monroe shocks, 20 ltr air tank, 12v 3/8 electric valve's. Very very happy with it.
Don't know the details of the parts, will post them later! |

My buddy bought the 803's for a LP style beam, aka loop ends in both ends. Have you guys had issues with the top and bottom holes being straight with each other? They are cocked a little and bind if you straighten then out.
Anyone else had issues? _________________ its not about what you say you will do oneday, its what you do today that actualy means something. |

Ok just read this entire thread . 52 pages whew, an entire Saturday afternoon.
Great stuff. So bottom line! I have a 2'' in narrowed beam, with adjusters, 2.5'' lowered spindles, MA756 air shocks and running 145/65 r15's in the front. I still have the the spring in the beam. For now I will keep the springs and will do the thru rods at a later date. So if I want to go really low, should I completely remove the center adjusting grub screws on both the upper and lower springs so that they just swing freely as I go up and down on my beam? What are your suggestions on how to do this, and if there are any pros and cons.
Thanks one and all........ |

Guys has anyone done this on a k&L beam if so what Monroe shocks did you use?? I'm currently on a standard beam but looking to replace with either a 4 or 2 inch narrowed beam and happy to extend the towers and fit dropped spindles. I would like to be able to get the beam on the ground. Cheers |

If you corner hard with the center grubs removed, you will destroy the grease seals between the arms/tube and your steering will get stupid sloppy. If you have a weekend cruiser you might get away with it, but driven daily it will eventually happen.
You need to use delrin bushings to last. |
