If you have a adjustable beam just set it so when the shocks are deflated the car is still drivable. Now if a shock blows you don't have to worry about the beam hitting the road and you can still drive it home.

As far as I can tell most people build their own or buy one. I found a diy cheap but don’t know how reliable it is.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Truck-on-board-air-compresor-tank/

Few pages back guy was running this with good success.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CFO05E/ref=ox...PDKIKX0DER

And I found this 2gl Viair tank and compressors set up for under $200.
http://www.amazon.com/VIAIR-150-PSI-High-Flow-Sour...ompressors

I am not there yet but this is all good info for air options. I am sure some other people can chime in with what has worked well and problems they have run into. This thread is big enough should have no problems. Laughing

This is just a little bit of what I call redneck figure it out on a budget , some will hate it , but really I don't give a yack !
Here are my doings !

1. I connected the 3/8 airhose straight onto the bung of the airshock , using ultra black permatex and a hose clamp, the threads act just as good as hose barbs , and I didn't have to drill out anything ! Works Amazingly ! Let it dry for a day before putting air in tank . This allows for faster inflates and deflates .

2. I bought a 27 dollar portable airtank from Harbor Freight .

3 I bought a 30.00 12v husky airpump from Home Depot in use as we speak, but I have recently bought a 60.00 Slime Brand airpump ( airs up tires in 3 minutes ) from walmart which is way better ( I reccomend this one ) .

4. I converted the main air line from the 12v pump with 3/8 airhose to fill airtank , must use checkvalve in the line .

5. I ran the main air line from the tank to a basic pneumatic air nozzel ( the kind used for blowing off junk ) I adapted a hose barb to fit this , and then attach the main air line that goes to a "T" and then to each shock .

6. This I used another air nozzle as a blow off valve or " Down " ! This is connected to the main airline via a "T" !

7. If done slowly and thought through , this works Amazing if you ask me !

8. I will take some pics and video soon !

9. I also run a 6" narrowed balljoint beam with monroe 756's ! My Ride is a 73' Bug !

Now the let the Haters Hate , and those interested send me a PM !

So when your aired out are you laying beam or can you still move? I think if your ok with that then run it. I would have never thought of using air nozzle for a inexpensive valve. Smile Some good ideas and I like your ride looking good.

I have a 66 body on a 68 pan. 5" narrowed adjustable beam, dropped spindles, disc brakes, and wide five 15" BRMs, the tires are going to be changed so the size can be whatever. I want to put a set of Monroe Air Shocks with (for now) a simple compressor and single valve setup. I need to know which Monroe will be best. I will not put some rigged up crap on there so please tell me which part no. will be best and why. I want to be able to get real low and raise it for preferred ride height or raise it to get over obstacles. Solid advice please. I have read a great deal of this thread and remain some what confused. I am thinking the MA756 will be best.

I went ahead and ordered the MA756 and the Air Lift 25804. Later I will put in a digital control, tank, and bag the rear. Now, I need to study up on the camber I have and how to cure it. Does anyone know if I need to have it aired up to ride height to set the camber or is it the same through the range of the suspension? I want to get the most out of my tires.

For some weird reason my order through Pep was cancelled due to them taking to long to fill the order. It worked out though because when I pulled it apart, I found that my beam is shock-less and has custom mounts welded in further up the wheel well. I am going to go in person to order the MA-768. I removed the adjusters, measured my potential travel and it seems these will fit my car best. Hopefully in the next few days, I will have it all in order and assembled. PICS TO FOLLOW OF COURSE!

How much psi are you guys running up front?
I just finished my pie cut on my frame head and my adjusters are all the way out and still does not hit. The front apron is 1/4 off the ground. Smile I will not be running that on bad roads but going in and getting an alignment want to set it where I can drive it at psi wise.

Would I be able to purchase these shocks and leave them at a certain psi until I get around to installing a pump and all that? I need some lowered shocks and have other things to do on the car but don't want to put regular shocks then when I do want to use this setup have to buy shocks again

You could but I would have it set up so if you loose air you can still drive it. I would prepare for the worst case flat tire and no air shocks. You should be fine I would think. You could always use a bike pump lol

Yello, I have read this thread through several times and still read conflicting views... I have an early 67, I have all the parts lined up for the front setup, 380c compressor, 5 gallon tank and I'm going to use the monroe ma756's.. The rear is where I get confused where some people say it is a waste of time to run air shocks and others say it works fine.. Can some one please shed some more light on this..

Is shock mount modifications necessary and also what shocks work the ma785's? Videos/photos would be amazing of rear set ups..

Thanks!! Very Happy Very Happy

I'm also confused on using air shocks on the rear. I will be keeping the rear torsion bars in and setting the rear end on my adjustable spring plates to the lowest hight I want and then I was planning on using air shocks to assist the torsion bars in lifting the rear end just 2 to 3 inches when I'm on the move will this work?

Hello Fellow Sambans , I've read quite about about the
Rear air shock situation , and I get the whole hard to lift
Camber situation ...... When car is parked ! But, my thought
Was , how well will the shock raise and lower the rear as long
As the vehicle is rolling !? I'm thinking if it's rolling , wouldn't that
Allow the camber to adjust , kinda like going around and around the mountain
Until you reach the top !? That was the only way I could kinda
Explain my thought ! .....

Also this being said and if it worked ....
Would I be able to just remove the rear
Torshin bars and drive with the airshocks
In rear !? Lemme know your thoughts. Thanks
