When they do, just switch stores, will probably have to go to CarQuest, Advance etc. I had the same situation come up with a Honda I had once, it was swapped with more power, lowered etc. They kept replacing them but I was only going through 2-3 a year |
Haha. Luckily, they didn't mention it when I went to pick it up. I think I've still got a couple of exchanges left.... Hopefully.
Bugorama is tomorrow. I'm looking forward to adjusting the tune on the way there and back, for optimal freeway mileage! _________________ -Thomas

I missed Bugorama due to some family health issues, unfortunately. Anyone know anyone who wants to buy a really fast and reliable (minus axles) streetfighter Bug? I had planned to drive up to BOR with a For Sale sign in the Bug. And maybe roll up on some unsuspecting Mustang or even a Corvette on the freeway.
Speaking of which, I've lined up a $100 race with a friend of a friend's 2013 GT Mustang due to my big mouth. I pestered this guy driving home from work on a secluded road one day until he gunned it. I gunned it too from about 50mph and gained on him, until we let off at about 100mph. I told a friend about that, and it turns out it was his buddy! So out of pure instinct, I said "$100 says I'll smoke him in a drag race!" And he bit. I'll be sure and record a video of that one. It should be close... The Internet says they run mid-12s with a good driver. I have an idea that my bug runs right around the same thing, but I guess I'll find out! Wish me luck! _________________ -Thomas

I'd buy the car if I wasn't so deep in mine.

I've got a 95 C36 AMG that I've considered selling. I'd trade you for it if you were interested. Cross country complications of course but still... _________________ My 1970 Beetle Thread

I just saw your ad in the classifieds.
It must be hard to decide to sell it. It's one of the coolest cars on the Samba and once it's gone you'll be kicking yourself. You'll see. |

This makes me a sadass panda.
Just hope who ever gets it posts what they do to it here.
Ive constantly referred people to this thread, even people that think Im crazy in alabama concerning the swap.
My friend started bitching about me not getting the swap done yet.
Any plans on what you will get into? Bus? _________________ '59 typ1 rajay turbo

Very nice car! I love this thread. I agree, you will regret selling.
Good luck with the sale. I'm too deep into my Porsche 914 Turbo Audi conversion or I would snatch this up! |

Im going to be late to work because of your build thread, but i believe it is worth it.
Super bad ass bug bro! I hella dig the paint job. I dig your volvo too. I had a 85' 240DL wagon back in high school. It was blue with whit racing striped and white turbo wheel. I miss that car.
I have been building a 69' baja for the last 5 years or so. I got a subie engine about 3 months ago. I got a 002 last weekend and the type 4 stub axles and cv's this weekend. So im just stockpiling parts for right now until i get everything. But im going to for sure read through your build. I saw (but didnt have time to read it all) something about using a mega squirt wiring harness for engine management. Im really only nervous about the wiring in this EJ22 conversion. The rest is simple fabrication. _________________ Toyotas are so bumpy it makes me sick, literally.

Yeah, I saw that your classified is marked "sold." Well, don't break it between now and then. Or do break it, depending on how you're feeling about it going away.
Since it's sold it's OK to post a link to the ad, isn't it?

The ad is kind of a one page version of this whole thread. |

Yes. And (of course) our bus broke down so my wife gave me a ride to work this morning.
The Rag is at 40thirteen getting a water to air intercooler installed, and a gasoline tune. I'll post pictures of that progress, and then ask for this thread to be locked. Hopefully with a link to the new owner's build thread, should he choose to start one. _________________ -Thomas

Wow! What an awesome thread and so inspiring!!! I posted a thread here looking for "German Look" and road racing styled Bugs so I could get some ideas and such... This thread was posted on mine to check out... This has been a great read! Sorry to see it go...
I have a '64 that I have been working on and don't know a whole lot about Bugs... I really liked the stance yours had... Did you have widened fenders on it? And if so, how much wider than stock?
Also, you must've had a sway bar up front, looking at how flat this car cornered... care to elaborate on your set up? Shocks? ( Edit: I went back through some of the thread at the beginning and saw some of your posting about the suspension... You mention rear disk brakes, Stock or aftermarket and what brand? Mentioned not having a front sway bar, did you ever get one? )
Thanks for any tips!
