|

O.K. - maybe a stupid question .
I removed the sending unit from my gas tank so that I
could seal the tank and paint it. I'm now reinstalling the
float/sender in the top of the tank. The rubber gasket is
in good shape. Should I use some kind of sealer when I
put it back, or is just the rubber gasket good enough? I
don't want it to leak afterwards cause I have a one peice
body, and I'll have to remove the body to get at it.
Thanks in advance. _________________ SOME MORNINGS IT'S JUST NOT

I use gasgacinch. If you put it on all parts that will contact & let it dry before you put it together, you will be able to take it apart easy later. If you put it together wet it will seal everything together more permanant like. As for the question do you NEED to seal it? The answer is no. I seal mine just so I won't smell fumes from under the dash if it did ever come loose. _________________ 1960 vw Manx

I cleaned my tank and installed with a new gasket dry 10 plus years ago, no leaks and no fumes. _________________ Southside Buggistas VW & kit car club
