Today... I got to hear my bug run for the first time, and second time, all for a total of about 7 seconds. I also installed my brake rebuild kit. Feeling pretty lucky, guy told me it was o.g. And from what I can tell the only thing not o.g. are the lights.(hella) got the car for 700 and im still under 1000 and its almost running Very Happy

Changed out a wonky taillight bulb, then drove mine around to charge the battery, took it by the auto parts place to check the battery (OK!), then drove down to the cigar store to pick up a few Rocky Patels. Crossing my fingers the battery isn't dead in the morning. Looks like maybe a little belt tightening tomorrow if that's the case.

re-jetted the Kaddy's for 10,000 ft and switched over to stainless fuel lines with AN fittings. looks mint. Ordered a new Sach's sprung disc, almost ready for the road again Smile

Watching paint dry, can't risk mounting trim if the paint is wet, just gotta wait.

ran outta gas Sad i haven't had my fuel guage hooked up because i'm in the gradual process of changing out crispy wires for fresh ones, and while i was warming the car up, she just shut off and wouldn't start back. yesterday was the first day i haven't driven the bug in several weeks. luckily, i still have my trusty jeep, and just drove it everywhere i needed to go. i'll put gas in the bug as soon as i get an opportunity!

put gas in the bug, and a set of late model cabrio front seats in. i got to drive my car, and even had a spot for my old lady to sit! i've had this bug for almost a month now, and today was the first time i've had room for anybody to ride with. i'm looking for a back seat now, and some door panels. i also need to come up with something to get the windows to roll up and down nicely...

the passenger side is the side that hits all the puddles on the right side of the road when it rains. this washes the grease out, and replaces some of it with sediment. bodda-bing: bad bearings on the passenger side.

Good point that never even crossed my mind.

I got my speedometer to work. Didn't even need the new cable, turns out there was no clip holding it, so it just worked itself out of the bearing grease cap. Then I promptly dented the hubcap putting it back on. Confused

Okay so the 76 I got on craigslist took me a little longer than I expected. (first time bug owner, first time home mechanic.) got all new fuel lines, brake rebuild kit, battery, distributer cap(thats it) added gas and it turned on but would shut off like im running out of gas. Replaced the fuel filter and SHES ALIVE! Man im sooo excited and still under 1000! As soon as I get the tail lights replaced I will be able to start the registration! I love my fuel injected bug even if no 1 else does! lol
