| After losing one pea shooter while driving down the highway (yeah, it fell off. so what?), and oredering new tail pipes from a business on The Samba, I installed the new pipes--mini-megaphones. Just an expanded PS, really, but they sound good! |

New fuel pump, kitted my original carb so I can replace the chinese J.C. Whitney knock-off, and ordered a bunch of stuff so I can put in a stereo.
And went for a drive... |

|
|
Well I lowered my 69 vert today. Actually I started a few days ago, but finished today. With all the information I got here on Samba it went fairly smooth. Took my time, did 2 outer clicks on both sides. That put the car down pretty low. It looks good but I'm worried about the ride. I'll take it out tomorrow and see how she handles. If at all, I just might bring it up a notch. Will see. The front I took care of a few months ago. She's got 2 inch narrowed adjustable beam and 2.5 inch dropped spindles. She almost lays beam. I installed air shocks with a compressor, to raise the front to level for highway driven. And when she's parked, slam she goes. It's in the garage for now, long way to go before I get it to where I want it but having fun along the way. Will post updates with pics on different threads here on Samba.
Thanks for letting me spiel. Keep posting everyone.................. |

Glenn, would you happen to have a shot of the side of your engine compartment where the access hole was made for the carbs? Also did you notice much of a difference noise-wise when you removed the side pieces of insulation? Thanks... |

| I reinstaled my speedo today , and since I have never had a car with 00000000 miles on it decided to fallow directions from one of the threads here on the samba and reset it to zeros . |

bought a rebuilt starter, but still have to mount it, and put an e clip over the lever to adjust the seat back. Now it won't fall off and cause by seat to become "flexible" all of the sudden _________________ Cars So Far:

checked out the front suspension (working to fix shimmey) looks like my center tierod is bad, needs bushings, and probably 1 ball joint.
Went to bleed the brakes and had a screw snap off luckily i hadn't gotten it open or that would of been a mess. Time for a new wheel cylinder! |

Got about a mile down the road this morning before a cloud of oil-based smoke passed me... Turned around quickly, pulled into the driveway, and checked underneath hoping for a valve cover leak at worst. NOPE! Looks to be the oil cooler seals... I could have fixed it, if my tools werent all at work... _________________ Cars So Far:

dropped the tierods, swaybar, control arms, changed a wheel cylinder out. (snapped a bleeder screw )
awaiting my new center tie rod and bushing from topline!
Tips for first timers.. Jacking up the strut, wedging a bolt inbetween the strut and ball joint and letting the jack down works great! Probably the toughest part was removing rusty old cotter pins and trying to not damage the other tierods since they are in good shape. |

This was yesterday, Dropped out the motor, checked the oil cooler, and it turns out one of the nuts holding the oil cooler on went AWOL, causing the massive leak. Replaced it with another one I had laying about, and made sure to put a lock washer under it (rather above it because its the one hanging over the 3/4 cylinders.) Leak fixed. _________________ Cars So Far:
