After years of searching... and almost settling for a plastic dash cover, I found a Super Beetle dash locally for $80! Dreams really do come true!

Well my High backs to Low Back conversion is now complete. I am extremely happy with the outcome. Although I believe that the TMI product for the conversion kit needed some more foam. There was like a 2 in gap between the foam and the fabric. So I ran to walmart and pick up some low density foam roll for like 6 bucks for a 10 ft roll.

I'm having the same issue with my TMI high back to low back conversion kit. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of buying a kit. Very disappointed in their product and not sure I would recommend it.

Got in wheel well-Took some great black caulk and put a bead where fenders attach to body to prevent any possible water entry.

This is from a few weeks ago when I went for a drive with my dad. I haven't rode next to him driving in a VW since I was 7 years old. Every dollar and minute spent reviving this old Beetle is now worth it !!!

fixed a flat tire, fixed the hazards, and put the original front bulb plate in place of the new one i got since the new seal sucks and the bulb housing was molded wrong. gotta love EMPI...... broken lens and torn up seal are why i replaced it. oh well. Empi QC is terrible which i have been finding for a while now. no more Empi stuff for me.

Finished up the front end work on my '72 Baja. New ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, tires, master cylinder all installed. Adjusted the toe-in and centered the steering wheel. Now need to get the wife to help bleeding the brakes, and I'll be ready to start working on the engine. Also re-fit the fiberglass hood so it no longer binds on the cowl. All in all, it's been a good week getting all this stuff done.

Mike

A few days ago, but still pertinent...
I put new bumpers on my Super; they make a huge difference in terms of looks. I'll put the overriders back on later (their bolts aren't long enough for some reason).

Got tired of my increasingly sloppy steering and replaced the steering shaft U-joint assembly. Also replaced my speedo lights with LED's.

Bought it from Top Line Parts along with the boots. Wasn't too bad once I drained the fuel and pulled the tank.

It steers properly now. It's unbelievable how a small amount of slop in a u-joint is a lot of slop at the steering wheel.

Yesterday I finally installed my electric window washer setup. I also fixed my reverse lights.

Today I put in my dual power outlet, and timed the motor. had some issues with it not wanting to idle at 7* but got it idleing at 16*. ill know more tomorrow when i take it to work. HOPEFULLY it'll drive ok. ill keep my tools handy.

Just bought today, and already working on it. Took out the back storage shelf and reinstalled the back seat. Thanks to another Samba member for the back seat.
